so a friend of mine that lives near lake park, a guy tried to break into her house last night. while she was there. she screamed at him, her dog barked, he left, but still hung around outside for awhile(he was visibly high or something). she called 911, the cops took like an hour to get there, gave her attitude when they got there (she screamed at them because they took so long and she was scared out of her mind), and they guy was gone by the time they showed up. investigator came and got prints and shit, but would have been unnecessary had the cops responded in a timely manner.shes gonna file complaints with the appropriate channels obviously, but i want to hear the cops that read TWW's thoughts and excuses, as well as other tdubbers experiences.it is unacceptable to me that our RPD is waiting and willing to dispense NPO tix, speeding tix, etc, but here a chick's life was pretty much endangered and there wasnt an officer to be found for a fucking hour.go.

uhm... duh why would a pig cop want to put himself at risk - you have to remember these guys are community-college failures. They'd much rather hand out NPO tickets than do any real work.

Welcome to Raleigh.
5/5/2006 9:22:23 AM
being a cop is like teaching IMO, if it is just a job to you, you should really pursue other options.
5/5/2006 9:22:30 AM
grape- same thing happened to us. while the response time was about 5 min, when the officers arrived they were extremely rude and began arguing with me and my roomate by telling us "we were making up the break in".it was the most ridiculous situation i have ever been in. when the CCBI got there, they told me that the RPD was extremely lazy in investigating cases like these and then proceeded to find point of entry of the suspect and a set of prints.
5/5/2006 9:27:44 AM
is this more of a '5 on your side' situation, or a 'call important people and get some heads rolling'?im curious how common this sort of scenario is.oh yeah, and when the investigator showed up, she was nice and friendly and comforting and shit, but im assuming the gender difference and sympathy/motherly thing accounts for some of that.

Haha, something like that happend at University Apartments last year. It was early in the morning, I got up to get some breakfast around 6:30am. Then, I hear this loud screaching and screaming sound. Sounded like someone was getting murdered. So, I look out the window and I see my neighbor (a 40 yr. old lady) running out of her apartment half naked in a night gown. And she's running through the parking lot pulling her hair like a mad woman. I go outside to see what's wrong, but by that time she's already sprinted down the road in her slippers. I have no clue what was going on. I figured she was just crazy. So, I walk back in and enjoy my breakfast.Around 7:30am some cops finally show up. That's about a whole hour later. They knock on my door around 8:30am to interview me. I told them all I saw was the lady run around the parking lot. Then they proceeded to tell me what happened. They said there was a drunk/high man that broke into the apartment through the back door that wasn't locked (All the backdoors are sliding glass doors, and people tend to forget to push the lock button). Then they proceeded to give me a description and went on their way.Long story made short: RPD is SLOOOOOW early in the morning. Maybe they stop by the donut shop on the way to the crime scene.

5/5/2006 11:27:30 AM
AHA, those two statements shouldn't be together."Maybe he had the wrong house. She shoulda shot him."[quote]its sad how so many people have so much sympathy for criminals these days
5/5/2006 11:40:29 AM
sorry, don't know how to use the quote thing yet

There was recently a HUGE set of changes in the RPD. I don't know the exact details but several officers have put in transfers to other cities and such. My roommate works for the city and works on Cop cars. There's where this info came from. He said the cop wasn't "allowed" to talk about it. Anyone have any more details on what happened?
5/5/2006 12:20:37 PM
i heard they are understaffed by something like 19 at dispatch. but that shouldnt really efect response time.
5/5/2006 12:22:08 PM
when i lived on clark ave, the decent part with nice houses, i called the cops once. there was some dude getting beat down in front of my house, and the cops got there in like 5 minutes. i was shocked!
5/5/2006 12:23:02 PM
5/5/2006 12:25:33 PM
that's why i was shocked. well, i guess i really didn't want them to show up so quick. it's disheartening to know that the stereotype was affirmed, atleast on that night.
5/5/2006 12:28:04 PM
I saw I guy empty his pistol into an empty car on Ashe Ave. about 6 years ago. There cops were there by the time the last shell casing hit the ground.
5/5/2006 12:30:58 PM
who would have protected the cops if they had got there while a criminal was still there? plz, think of the cops.
5/5/2006 12:37:49 PM
RPD bungles everything it touches
5/5/2006 2:14:59 PM
i love how anti-gun advicates always say, "thats what police are for" when arguing that you dont need a gun in your home for protectionthen you read/ experience situations like this and realize you were right, they are all tree hugging hippie faggots
5/5/2006 2:18:35 PM
RPD IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SLOWTheir response time sucks, and its not funny at all. esp in dangerous situations, or for that matter any situation.

last time i filed an official complaint on a police officer, i was arrested 3 days later for a felony charge that i did not commit.i dont file complaints anymore.
5/5/2006 2:29:19 PM
^^ My wife did that... she went down one apartment complex too far (since all buildings look pretty much the same here) ... she said she started to unlock the door, but her key didn't work. Then someone came to the door... Let's just say she walked away a little embarrassed. But, I would be a widow right now if the resident decided to look through the peep hole and shoot my wife through the door with a 45 magnum or some buck shot. Thank god for neighbors who do not carry a 45 and a saw-off shotgun [Edited on May 5, 2006 at 2:33 PM. Reason : ^^]
5/5/2006 2:30:45 PM
haha grievance forms were the bomb
5/5/2006 2:32:41 PM
We had a very large drunken man attempt to batter down our door at University Oaks a few years back. Response times from the police were pretty good, probably about 10 minutes. They arrived just as he gave up on the door and started tearing up a window. Funny thing was, he thought he was trying to get into his own apartment (lived in another building).
5/5/2006 2:36:04 PM
i've dealt with RPD and they fucking suck ass hole. if it was legal, i'd kill the "detective" that handled my particular case.[Edited on May 5, 2006 at 3:11 PM. Reason : dealt]
5/5/2006 3:02:25 PM
Ahahaha I called the cops last weekend and they got here in like 3 minutes.Of course, this was Cary.
5/5/2006 3:07:33 PM
i live in cary now and there's never been a reason to call a cop
5/5/2006 3:11:50 PM

5/5/2006 4:09:29 PM
ha i got in a wreck at the Kilgore and Brook intersection and when we called the dispatch lady she said there was a cop around the block. The dude showed up 20min later.
5/5/2006 4:18:35 PM
this is a very disturbing thread
5/5/2006 4:34:33 PM
5/5/2006 4:39:59 PM
You would probably get a bigger response with Five on your side. They love stories like that and RPD will just sweep it under the rug.
5/5/2006 4:43:28 PM
i got in a wreck last summer at 3amhit run from some fucking, drunk wet back that plowed into me while sitting at a stop lighti was 1/4 mile from wake med and i had to call 911 twice to get a cop to come out to write the report.my first call to 911 was around 3am when it happened and my next call was at 3:50but i was less than a mile from the hospital and I KNOW THERE WERE COPS AT WAKE MEDtalk about being pissed off / then when i gave them almost every number of teh plate and a full description of the driver and the car --- they didnt do shit and they didnt look into ithell, next time i will handle it myself since RPD is not worth a shit
5/5/2006 5:04:22 PM
buy a gun, protect yourself. although thats still a shitty response time, RPD has a lot of problems, shitty department
5/5/2006 5:59:18 PM
