The one that caused the last Tsunami was a 9.0, which is massive, and extremely rare. I don't see it happening again in the near future.

But I still don't plan on living in SE Asia.

but a 16 inch wave way out at sea still amounts to a lot more than that, once the deapth is shallower, it grows in size and speed.

but i guess they know what they're talking about if they took down the watch.
