let me be the first to call this dude an asshole
5/2/2006 12:21:55 PM
hes just mad he is not in the Realistic Herb replacements thread
5/2/2006 12:23:23 PM
beat me to it
5/2/2006 12:23:34 PM
I knew ya'll would be pissed but he's right. A little harsh though.
5/2/2006 12:24:32 PM
Dead fucking on.
5/2/2006 12:24:46 PM
let me be the first to call this dude an asshole and congratulate him for being right and for having the balls to say it
5/2/2006 12:25:47 PM
Apparantely everyone who speaks the truth about the coaching situation is an asshole... The coaching search has been a joke and the fans here have had a lot to do with it.
5/2/2006 12:27:15 PM
shit was funny as hell
5/2/2006 12:29:14 PM
wow that was dead on. so how many national writers bashing the coaching search and the coaching position does that make now?

5/2/2006 1:08:44 PM
The pecking order is not written in stone.
5/2/2006 1:17:42 PM
the pecking order will be pretty irrelevant once the season starts again. record is all that matters.
5/2/2006 1:19:02 PM
I hate ppl who say we should settle with being behind duke and UNC.Also i bet this guy didnt have to watch every NCSU backetball game Then he would know why i was tired of herb. I just wish these guys would shut up and let us get our coach
5/2/2006 1:19:28 PM
I hate how he verbalrapes us and bitches us out and then is all like "But it's not all States fault and they'll be ok" in the last half of the article.Take a damn stance already.
5/2/2006 1:19:47 PM
we suck.
5/2/2006 1:20:14 PM
I've never seen an article dealing with this that reflects my exact sentiments the way this one does.Wow.
5/2/2006 1:21:39 PM
Dude knows about Carrboro, he obviously has a finger on the heartbeat of NC Basketball
5/2/2006 1:24:26 PM
Hell, he might not know shitHe may have just pulled together a committee of 10-12 folks who actually do...either way, that shit is right the fuck on
5/2/2006 1:26:36 PM
5/2/2006 1:30:06 PM
it really was. especially the part about indiana looking like geniuses with the sampson hire. hell, oklahoma hiring Capel looks genius compared to all this.
5/2/2006 1:31:36 PM
Look, we don't have to "settle with being behind duke and UNC." But the fact is we are behind them right now. As long as we keep making progress and keep improving, eventually we may pass them. But we shouldn't say to a coach "Take us ahead of these two programs or you're fired."
5/2/2006 1:35:01 PM
and I think what all the guys are saying is true. state is a good program, but EVERYONE is behind duke and unc. state just takes it to heart more because they're so close. shit doesn't happen overnight and the team was on the right track. now they've taken a huge step backwards because fans are so fucking impatient and want results NOW
5/2/2006 1:38:20 PM
5/2/2006 1:38:52 PM
that dude is not an assholehe is right on the freaking money
5/2/2006 1:44:23 PM
Can someone post the entire article ?I can't load espen at work for some reason
5/2/2006 3:37:41 PM
5/2/2006 4:19:33 PM
The entire article is posted in the "Realistic Herb replacements" thread - first post on this page:http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=398275&page=54And for the record, Forde is completely right. Even before Herb left, I was afraid that if we fired him, he would be Frank Solich and we would be Nebraska - firing a great coach and not having anybody want to come in who would have to live up to extreme expectations. Herb left on his own, but we're still having the same problem filling the position.[Edited on May 2, 2006 at 4:25 PM. Reason : ]

pecking order?if we would have gotten Calipari, then what would they have been saying? i bet all these writers would have been sucking him and State off saying that we'll still be a Top 25 team, and would compete better with UNC and Duke.
5/2/2006 4:28:35 PM
I think i'll hold off on those basketball LTR's for a few more years
5/2/2006 4:40:05 PM
5/2/2006 6:02:11 PM
^^^. you can bet that all you want. we weren't going to get calipari. we got played for a raise. he stayed at memphis and got more money in a cakewalk conference. don't you get it? even "good and competitive" coaches don't want this job. it's lose-lose in their eyes.
5/2/2006 7:44:26 PM
somewhere tod turner is enjoying a good evil laugh at our expense...i got sick after reading this
5/2/2006 10:08:57 PM
^^ i'm well aware of the Calipari situation and what went down. all i was mainly trying to say is that all of this State bashing in the media would have been different had we gotten a proven big name coach, or just a proven coach.from what a lot of other coaches have said, they believe the State job is a great job. if Lee Fowler could have just closed the deal with Lavin or Belein we wouldn't even be having this conversation.from what was reported Belein was actually willing to pay part of the WVU buyout. he's a "good and competitive" coach and that seems like he had a desire to come here, just that Fowler tried to change the deal from what i heard. wow. we really are the laughing stock of the college basketball world right now. it'll all be forgotten in a month though.
5/3/2006 5:02:03 AM
you can thank all the herb haters out there for making the rest of us look dumb
5/3/2006 9:29:44 AM
I can't stand how everyone is all like:The fans are crazy for demanding State be better than Duke/Carolina...and they ran Sendek off because they were third best. When in reality, no one really expects us, short-term, to surpass Duke/Carolina. What we do expect is to be competitive with them occasionally.Forde's on the money for the most part, but he isn't saying anything new. And I still hate how he cracks on us for the first half of the article and then gives a list of reasons why it isn't so bad and it's not our fault for the last half of the article.
