I looked around and found this site:http://www.geocities.com/capecanaveral/lab/2376/scanlinks.htmlIt looks like a pretty good list of scanner streams, and even this guy is stumped as to "Free" nascar scanner sites. Any free nascar scanner site would peobably be in violation of nascar's prohibition on broadcast of any accounts of the event without their express permission and all that.

Time Warner customers get TrackPass scanners for free.Other than that... yes it would be quite illegal to provide free scanners (or even radio broadcasts I believe) online.

i dont understand why a repeater that broadcasts to the internet would be illegal, in car communications arent produced nascar material.

but you can bet your ass nascar will claim they own the rights to them

because a repeater would be a re-broadcast, and therefore illegal.

Does NASCAR control radio communications? Also, why are there no NASCAR threads in Sports Talk?[Edited on April 30, 2006 at 9:28 PM. Reason : .]

I would think a repeater that picked up car communications would be legal, as long as you intercepted it from somewhere away from the property. I wouldn't do it myself, though.

the problem isnt repeating the signal.the problem is recieving it and transcoding it for internet broadcast. that constitutes a rebroadcast, because you are changing the medium

if you're a time warner customer, how can you get the trackpass for free?oh that's crap, i found it, but you have to be on your cable modem. If I was connected to my cable modem, I'd have my DAMN TV and could watch it. Great service..[Edited on May 1, 2006 at 12:27 PM. Reason : .]
