so i tried replacing my o2 sensor on 95 jeep grand cherokee, and the damn thing wont budge. i put the car in idle for like 3mins to expand it, used an extended length wrench and no luck. theres little room to work with, the sensor is next to the sump and the transmission is nearby. i think in the previous service, they didnt use anti seize. so how do i go about this?

don't use them both at the same time, or even that close to each other.

get a hi-lift handle or something to get some leverage on it, or lock two wrenches together. and shit tons of pb blaster too. which sensor is it? bank 1 or 2?

nothing a pipe over the end of a wrench shouldn't be able to handle

i've never even seen an O2 sensor that was that much of a PITA to break loose.

jee-no, I didn't learn that the hard way. That's because I am not an idiot. I am one of the few on here who actually has a job in a garage.

^ i would think that more common sense, rather than experience in a garage, no offense

^7 i did the on/off key OBD1 and it reads #21 and #52. im assuming its the o2 sensor at the exhaust manifold, im gonna lock two wrenches togther and try but im told there are special wrenches for the o2 sensor.
^yea iggi those guys are a little doo doo

if all fails im goona bring it to where 69 works let them handle it.

if you arent saving the sensor, the easiest and not likely to bust your knuckles way is to clip the wire off, use a deep 6 point socket and a 1/2" drive breaker bar

21** Neither rich nor lean condition detected from the oxygen sensor input.
or
Oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above the normal operating range.

52** Oxygen sensor signal input indicates rich air/fuel ratio condition during engine operation.\

^^haha well, im gonna try my damnest to get the bugger out before sending it to the shop

^ yea i looked it up too, its been idling rough and surges so i figured its the sensor, i think 96 and up models have 2 sensors while 93-95 has 1 sensor at the exhaust manifold. i might be wrong but thats the impression i got.

^so going by that, with the lose of mileage, im assuming its the 1st bank. gas is a damn killer with a faulty o2sensor
