4/29/2006 5:17:27 PM
Honest to God truth is that your parents lied to you. Don't expect to come out of college and get a $50,000 job offer unless you are one really smart motherclucker. Mind you, a lot of you certainly possess the ability and intelligence to one day achieve such a salary. But starting salaries are rarely even close to that high.I remember coming out of college, I thought a $30,000 salary was a piece of shit wage for a god damn "dirty wetbag" <Carlos Mencia>. Now I have realized that yo... there are people out there working their ass off everyday, taking care of their families, surviving in the streets, holding up several jobs, making less than $20,000 a year. It's all about education. About what's in your brain. I feel so much empathy for the people around me. Truth is, I live in NE Raleigh around an area that is kinda like a Project. A lotta families here struggling, parents working multiple jobs, shootings be happening, drug activity, prostituion. Yo... this the real streets. These people sweat and toil in labor everyday to operate your McDonalds, your gas stations and your drugstores. It is sad because they receive such meager wages.Honestly, I am looking to start a $30K position soon and now that I have grown up, I am enthralled at the site of that figure! Having seen so much suffering around me, I realize now that I have been blessed with opportunities and abilities that these people never had the chance to receive. So yo... just think about that ya'll and be grateful cuz a lotta ya'll do not realize how lucky you got it. Riding around in brand new cars, bumping systems, wearing the latest fashions. Yo... it ain't like that out here man. We wear what the frick we have. If we get some extra money, maybe we go get a new pair of shoes. Some ya'll real spoiled and stuck in this mighty throne so high, but yo genuine truth can only be found from digging deep within.[Edited on April 29, 2006 at 5:30 PM. For most engineers 30K would almost be like a slap in the face.
4/29/2006 5:30:37 PM
IDK man cuz I remember I knew electrical engineers graduating working 50 hours a week making 35K to start with. And keep in mind Purdue University is a big University too. I'm talking 35K students. Major school for Management, Technology, and Engineering.[Edited on April 29, 2006 at 5:32 PM. Reason : Lil More Info]

thats because you can get EE's a dime a dozen in India
4/29/2006 5:37:28 PM
naw the EE dude I knew was a white boy. real cool cat too. named Jason. clean cut. well groomed.idk all I'm saying man is have a realistic temperment or tempermant or w/e over your head as you progress through school. now looking back, i wish i had made a lot more effort into getting into internships, special projects, anything really that would make my resume look better. every little thing you do in college really does count for a lot. just don't take it for granted and misuse your time. daz all all... damn I sound like Reverend Jesse Jackson, all up in here preaching and shit.

Oh Goodness Gracious. Here come the Almighty Smug Fart-InhalersGreat that you've been offered that much Queen Majesty the Turd, but out of all the thousands of students going to this school, you really expect even 50% of them to be getting offers like that?Uhhh YAH RIGHT. Not all of us are so brilliantly gifted as you. So stop waving your wad of cash in our face and go read a book.

Hello AllGlad to be a point of debate. This is a job in the company that I work for now - a medium small sales and marketing firm.I work in the marketing department at this company, but it is a mostly sales organization. There are 4 customer service positions that do order entry/invoice tracking/phone customer service at my office and we just recently had an employee quit.I am trying to help out my boss who wants to fill the position through word of mouth instead of careerbuilder.com or something.People who are really interested in working for a good company in Charlotte, NC can PM me for more info. When I graduated last year from NC State, this is totally the kind of job I was looking for - that's why I thought I would post this - but it's probably not for engineers or someone holding out for a job specifically in their field. This is probably more for business or humanities majors who are looking for entry level experience. Pass it on to anyone you know who would be interested.

Hahahaha, I was making 30k a year in high school. If you have an engineering degree (mech, ee, cpe, ie) and aren't a turd of a human being, getting hired for 40+ right out of school is a damn given.
5/5/2006 1:10:38 PM
but are you happy - i mean REALLY happy? just kidding, but seriously, there are good jobs and bad jobs in every industry and every salary range
5/5/2006 1:37:05 PM
^^ seriously.I think a large part of tHaSaNdNiGa's problem is his wannabe thug persona. Who the fuck wants to hire that?

Why would it be a joke?I thought when I graduated I might have a chance at a $50K per year job until I was a month into job hunting and was coming up with slim pickings. That's when I realized that I was probably not going to get exactly the job I wanted, and then, to pay the rent, I started looking at the jobs I didn't think I wanted. So when I broadened my scope I ended up finding a job that I really really enjoy, but it certainly doesn't pay $50K.I was thinking that other people might be in the same boat I was last year and that line might be a good attention grabber for people looking for a job in the charlotte area. I don't understand why that's a joke.
