if I wanted to take a semester or three off, maybe with a couple DE courses, would it be a problem still having credit for everything I've taken so far when I come back? I know there are the problems of trying to remember everything I'll have forgotten in that time, but that's beside the point.

depends on how long it is.if you take DE stuff then 1 semester is no big deal.if you can work while taking 2 classes then you can stay as a part time student until you graduate

i took three years off and had no problems coming back.although, after three years i was no longer interested in my major. i am in the process of changing majors now.[Edited on April 29, 2006 at 10:23 PM. Reason : *]

try finding an internship or co-op. i co-oped and it really helped to appreciate school more.

i took 3 semesters off and just worked full time. They changed the degree requirements for the program while I was gone. However, the changes did not affect me, I was still in the old degree audit. So you shouldn't have to worry about anything like that. I had very little trouble adjusting back to school life. I was def. a little slower taking notes and stuff at first but that all came back quick. What you do want to watch though is going part-time. If you recieve financial aid or intend to at any point, you have to be full-time the previous semester. So if you go part time for a couple semesters, then decide you want to come back full-time but need some financial aid you're going to have a tough time getting it. I'm not sure how it works with DE courses. But if you do think there's even a chance you may need aid at any point I would go talk to a financial aid counselor before making a decision.
