I know this has been commented on before by myself and others, and I'm pretty sure there's an implementation of it somewhere. I can't find anything useful on Google about an implementation though, and I'd like to avoid reinventing the wheel. I don't suppose any of you are familiar with an implementation of this? kthx.

My goal isn't simply to auto-hop onto available wireless connections, it is to maintain a secure tunnel between the car and a server at my residence that is buffered at both sides to maintain connections through the tunnel and update them in short bursts when connectivity is intermittently available or as it switches from one access point to the next.
