if the tv isn't shit, shouldn't be noticeable, but you are going from vhs in the first place.

*sigh* What you are doing is potentially illegal, which is why it's stopping you from doing so. Any commerical vhs/dvd combo or "dvd-recorder" won't let you directly copy a copyrighted from VHS to VHS, VHS to DVD, or DVD to DVD. They are SUPPOSED to be used to preserve custom-recorded VHS tapes onto DVD. Most newer VCRs have a scrambler feature which screws up copying directly from VHS on one VCR to VHS on a second VCR, so scratch that.

If you haven't already spent serious $texas on this, my suggestion would be to setup your computer to do most of this. Feed the VHS tape in, burn with a DVD burner.

That'll work if the recorder if the TV has audio and video out. Either that or the record has to be smart enough to recognize video input from one source, audio input from a second source.

My parents have a VCR/DVD Recorder combo that will transfer a VHS to DVD. Don't know if it will work for movies, but stuff recorded from TV and home videos.
