DESTROY INDEPENDENT CINEMA!!!
4/25/2006 5:16:39 PM
for the record, Squid and the Whale is a great, funny movie. It's not a masterpiece though. It's short, the ending is pretentious, etc etc.
4/25/2006 5:19:19 PM
totally agree, good movie, way too shortand even justin thought the ending was pretentious if that says anything
4/25/2006 5:20:55 PM
4/25/2006 5:20:57 PM
^You look at the numbers, i'm generally looking at the namesi never saw thumbsuckerand "The Squid & the Whale" is the best movie i've ever seen as far as what its like to be a child of divorcei still don't know what the oak leaves mean[Edited on April 25, 2006 at 5:22 PM. Reason : so criterions have oak leaves?]
4/25/2006 5:21:16 PM

4/25/2006 10:03:56 PM

4/25/2006 10:15:02 PM
Metropolitan #326? I think but not sure...http://criterionco.com/asp/release.asp?id=326
4/25/2006 10:42:01 PM
yeah, thats itseemed interesting
4/25/2006 11:36:04 PM
thumbsucker wasn't very good, or maybe my expectations were too high from the previews.and avoid chumscrubbers at all costs
4/25/2006 11:37:36 PM
Thumbsucker had its problems, primarily the pothead story arc, but it was definitely one of the best movies of 2005.
4/25/2006 11:41:33 PM
bwahahahah how in the hell did RoboCop get on this list?![Edited on April 25, 2006 at 11:46 PM. Reason : criterion collection #23]
4/25/2006 11:45:55 PM
Robocop >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Armageddon, which is also on the Criterion Collection.
4/25/2006 11:47:34 PM
^Scorcese also likes Michael Bay apparently. Look, the dude is senile, so I forgive him for slipping on his pretentious fucking list. His list is only good for one purpose and that's making some of the shit I want to own on DVD ridiculously expensive. He can take most of that fucking list and shove it up his ass, however. uh, let's see...Yeah, the Chumscrubber wasn't very good, no...
4/25/2006 11:52:47 PM
Not every Criterion DVD is ridiculously expensive. Chasing Amy retails for $15 and Royal Tenenbaums is $20, and I'm sure they're not the only ones.
4/26/2006 12:09:52 AM
I don't want either of those two.
4/26/2006 12:24:02 AM
Then you're a fucking moron.Salo FTW.
4/26/2006 12:26:51 AM

^, ^^ ^^(only) you know ert is coming into town friday, we're totally gonna go check it out[Edited on April 26, 2006 at 12:40 AM. Reason : scrumples probably doesn't know ert]
4/26/2006 12:40:06 AM
Actually, I think Salo is pretty pointless and not worth watching more than once.I know some people who are in "Stick It", and it has "Josie & the Pussycats"-like potential.J&tP has a ton of hilarious shit in it that I can't help but love...the whole movie is one continuous product placement gag.
4/26/2006 12:45:55 AM

for the record, i think most independent movies suckthe only potential independent films that can be decent are usually dramas, because they are more real life so cheap ass budgets dont really hurt them, i also get interested in independent films with big name actors that take cheap roles(ie. sling blade, even though billy bob was not as big as he is now at that time)comedies or action films just come off too hokey for me, and i'm one that doesnt like cheap acting, cheap graphics, etc.idk i just never saw the allure of wanting to see an independent film, plus half the people that see them act like snobs or something cause they saw a movie that hardly anyone even knew existed, and i cant stand those people so i'd rather not watch something that gives joy to people i dislike
