a friend of mine that went to high school with manny watched them play intamural bball together and said mario sucked at bball. manny, on the other hand, was a beast on the court he said.

yeah we played them in the playoffs two years ago... Mario doesnt "suck" at bball but he's nowhere near ACC caliber. Manny is pretty beastly however.

I mean if he trained for basketball instead of bulking up to play DE he'd be twice as quick and would be alright...

but at his current size he can't even move on defense...

And if the game was at all serious and you werrent scared of dying, you could take a charge everytime he drove the lane because he has no body control...

It was pretty well known Mario worked at a Subway during high school. Kind of hard to miss that big fucker.

And he sucks at basketball too. Tony C. took it to him last year on my roommate's intramural team that beat the football players (consisting of Manny, Mario, and a couple ofther shitty ballers) in the semis last year. Manny was pretty good though.

everyone knows athletes can only have jobs in the summer... thats an obvious violation to have one during the school year...

Otherwise Mario woulda been making $50,000 a year to turn off the lights in the gym every night...


Now if you go to Duke, they wont let the basketball players get jobs but they do hand out $50,000 jobs to their parents...

unless they've changed the rules again, scholarship athletes are only allowed to work to the point where they meet what they do not receive in scholarship

i.e., if an athlete gets a 50% scholarship, he can work to earn the other 50%

like i said, that holds true unless the NCAA has changed the rules again (that was a change enough as scholarship players before like 1996 or 1997 couldn't even hold a job)

i mean yeah that stuff is obviously a violation. i guess the ncaa doesnt want to have to verify whether it's the part-time at subway situation, or the 50k to turn off the lights, so they make everything illegal.

although i still don't think it's right that an athlete can't go out and get a job on their own. i guess that's just what happens when people take advantage of shit.

Dude they get free meals, books, clothes, etc...

I mean the basketball team gets free ipods, video cameras, etc whatever the latest technology is in their ACC tournament package.


They also get a huge stipend check plus whatever money the booster club sneaks them...

A lot of them never really see this money because it goes to taking care of their child support...

Whenever they get their checks they usually squander them in 2 hours in big dice games...




Plus look at how much money they make at their summer jobs. You think Philip Rivers was getting tipped singles at Prestonwood? I doubt it..

Maurice Clarett was making serious bank to show up and eat Mcdonalds at the construction site...

Im sure Charles O'bannon made pretty decent money doing summer broadcasting...
