Coming to a rap video near you: 30-inch rims

Quote :
"Forget dubs. Pirelli just announced the world’s first production 30-inch tire, opening the door to mass-market 30-inch rims. While other tire manufacturers may have shown “one-off” 30-inch tire projects, Pirelli’s 315/30R30 Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico is described as an SUV tire and is headed for full production. “The 30-inch Scorpion Zero is not about selling huge volumes; it’s more about satisfying a highly visible niche opportunity and making a statement in the market place,” a company spokesperson said. “Our past initiatives in this product area have driven huge interest in plus-sizing on light trucks, to a point where 22-inch tires can almost be considered the norm.” TIS Wheels (”Twenty Inches Strong”) used the press conference to introduce a thirty-inch wheel called Thirty Inches Strong. The company confirmed that the first set valued at $150,000 in development costs, had been sold to MTV Celebrity Bam Margera for his Hummer. "

And here is something else (not related):

Forget the spinners: pimp rims go high-tech

Quote :
"In the last few days you may have read about some high-tech rims called Pimpstar. They’re available from CustomWheel and they’re unlike any rims we’ve seen before. Using built-in color LED lights, they can display any digital image on the wheels. "

it isnt like the other 30s were hand carved from a solid block of rubber. the exact same production methods are used regardless of the desired output quantities.

like every trend, it keeps going until it hits rediculous proportions and then people switch to something else. Think of uber-baggy jeans.
