"Will somebody please coach these guys....really, they're not that bad. And the fans are great when you get past the ones that want you fired after making five straight NCAAs...and the ones that yell at your wife at the games and harass your kids at school...and there are the fans that put fliers on cars at a home conference game with a website that has a petition to fire me when the season isn't over and we eventually made the tournament...I mean they really aren't that bad. It's really not hard to win there either...you only have the two of the top 5 programs of all time within 20 miles...it makes it REAL easy to recruit. But I have to go...some hot co-eds are at my door with brownies."And lock this shit if you want to. I'm just trying to add a little humor to this depressing situation.[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 10:59 PM. Reason : .]

Well if Lee Fowler would stop screwing around & go after the best man for the job (who actually would take it) already, we would have a coach already. And in case anyone isn't sure, the right coach is named Frank Haith.
4/20/2006 11:12:27 PM
I wish people would stop blaming Lee Fowler. You run a coach off and then complain because our AD cannot hire a new one.Man I love our fans.
4/20/2006 11:17:25 PM
This whole situation is getting really frustrating. And all the armchair athletic directors on all the blogs and message boards aren't making it any better.
4/20/2006 11:17:43 PM
Since no one really has any idea of what is going on...I don't think we can blame Lee Fowler. But he went after the big dogs and missed...and I don't see anything wrong with that (we would have crucified him if he went after a B-list guy first and got him).Lee's in a pretty bad situation. There really isn't anyone on the list that a overwhelming majority of the fans are going to like. A lot of people are going to be pissed with any hire we make right now. A Billy Gillispie or PJ Carlesimo might make everyone happy...but they don't even seem to be on the list anymore.Lee's proper fucked either way. Here's to hoping he just hires a damn good coach, and hopefully after a few years of success we'll all start liking him.
4/20/2006 11:21:22 PM
there's a thread over on pp talking about fucking McMillan again. God damnit, people never learn.
4/20/2006 11:23:39 PM
this coaching search has gotten beyond ridiculous.
4/20/2006 11:24:55 PM
And it's only just beginning.

Will people please let go of Frank Haith. The ACC does not like this idea at all.
4/21/2006 12:28:28 AM
^ Im not pro-Frank Haith (although we could do much worse), but my response to that is "Fuck the ACC."
4/21/2006 12:31:47 AM
The ACC can get over it. The ACC should only be concerned about what's good for NC State basketball, as that is what is good for the ACC.
4/21/2006 12:34:01 AM
4/21/2006 12:38:46 AM
NC State doing well (in basketball) will be much better for the ACC than if Miami does well. As I've said before, nobody cares about miami basketball. But we're not getting him so i'll stop talking about it now.
4/21/2006 12:40:23 AM
I totally support this thread!

this thread is worthless without pics
4/21/2006 12:43:28 AM
So you want Lee to rush and just hire the first coach that says yes???? And do you really think Frank Haith is better than a Lon Kruger, PJ Carlesimo, or Mike Montgomery?I sure hope not. I would take 90% of names being thrown out over Haith.
4/21/2006 12:47:58 AM
aren't you guys all glad we ran herb off now?i just KNEW we'd make an awesome hire to replace him...
4/21/2006 12:51:10 AM
4/21/2006 1:42:52 AM
"Hey ref...I think I see a coach that NC State could hire....he's right over there. Hurry up and go get Lee."
4/21/2006 1:45:26 AM
I'm not saying the ACC needs NC State to succeed in order to survive.I'm saying it would be better $$$$$$ wise if NC State did well. TV ratings would be higher, ticket sales would be higher, and overall excitement about games would be higher if NC State were a powerhouse again. Who gives a fuck if Miami is a powerhouse. I mean maybe one day, but its more of a sure thing with us and our lunatic fans. Thats not saying that we deserve to be a powerhouse or deserve Frank Haith, or deserve jack shit for that matter. It was simply a comment (well at least from my perspective) about sheer numbers, and our alumni and fanbase for basketball will do a lot more for the ACC than Miami. One more thing.....Duke is probably...note probably, not for sure....is going to have a down season next year. How great would it be to see State and UNC competing for an ACC championship next season? Wake is losing Williams, Gray, and Ellis who was coming around. MD is reporting that Ibekwe (sp) and strawberry are entering the draft. If we could somehow hang on to Ced, next year might be the year to take advantage of a down ACC if we can keep up with the ridiculous amount of talent UNC is bringing in. ....ok that has nothing to do with the rest of the post...just got to thinking. More importantly, if the ACC continues to block coaching moves within the conference, the programs hurt the most in the long run will be the Miamis, VTs, and FSUs.The big basketball schools will always be able to hire a rising star as a coach. If taking a job and building a program at a place like Miami will rule them out for an NCSU, UNC, Duke, MD, or WFU coaching vacancy, they will want to shy away from the ACC until their "dream" job comes open. Is Miami better off with a solid up-and-coming coach like Haith, or someone with no higher aspirations. I think Miami and the ACC as a whole are better off attracting Haith, even if he may someday leave.
4/21/2006 2:13:49 AM
SFN had a good argument about why the ACC should let coaces move from one ACC school to another. Here's the link: http://www.statefansnation.com/index.php/archives/2006/04/13/re-haiththe-acc-problem/This doesn't mean that I think Haith should be the next coach. I don't play armchair AD and will give whoever gets the job a reasonable chance to succeed before passing judgement. I'm just saying I agree with SFN on this one and think it's a crappy rule.

^^you've dont nothing but post negative shit in here for the past couple of weeks, I was just pointing out a possible alternative. If Miami starts beating the shit out of all of the normal ACC powerhouses consistently, its going to hurt, no matter what you say. Its like in golf...casual fans dont watch when tiger isnt playing or when he's getting the shit kicked out of him, and when he is playing and playing well, he's the only player they show seemingly. You're right, the ACC needs miami to be competitive, but I dont think its a good idea if they become dominant. They dont have any fan base. Its better if Duke, UNC, NC State, BC, UMD, and even Wake are doing well. I already said I dont think we deserve shit, and that last part of my previous post was the dilusional part of me talking...wishful thinking that aint happening.

4/21/2006 4:47:59 PM
I mean I halfway agreed with you, so whats the point in being a dick?
4/21/2006 4:50:57 PM
I told you I understood your point...I'm just saying it's not reality. The ACC does care about us...and they showed us that when they vocally supported us after Calipari dicked us. But as much as Duke/UNC/State fans like to say..."screw Miami/VT/BC and the such" just because they haven't won past championships and don't have a strong past in the ACC...doesn't mean the ACC feels the same way. That's not how the conference works. The ACC prides itself on being strong TOP TO BOTTOM. To think that the ACC would say, "we need to let State have Frank Haith because we need to get State back to the top of the ACC and Miami really doesn't matter in basketball" is not realistic. Miami doing well in basketball makes the ACC officials look a lot better....because they got a lot of shit from basketball people about expansion.

There's nothing to be excited about, but I'm trying to look at the bright side of things. If we have to settle for Whitt, I would have been pissed a few weeks ago, but compared to these other candidates, I like him more and more every day. Lets just sit back and see what happens. I dont think Fowler will do something thats going to piss a large majority of the fans off. Hiring Lon Kruger would have made a worse situation than already existed. Whitt is the only guy that we can say "well what the fuck has he done"....yet the fans will give him a chance. Kruger wont get a chance. Beilein will get about as many games as it takes for him to lose a game dying by the 3's, and Lavin will get one shitty recruiting class. we're on the same page here, I just want a fucking coach, and for people to stop bitching
