Can a teacher, state that there will be 3 test during the semester and then at the end of the semester decide that he just isn't going to give the third test?

I've taught at Virginia Tech and I currently teach here at State. I've been told a number of times not to do this sort of thing; I'm actually not sure if the implication was that it was simply unethical (which it is, in my opinion) or just Not Allowed at all. (In fact, several years ago at Tech I was considering doing something like this due to time constraints at the end of the semester. I was told by one of the faculty that I can't do that, and that I should at least have one short test squeezed in at the end of the semester, as promised (which I agreed with, once I considered it)). At any rate, if this is happening in your class, I would first talk directly with your teacher about it.

haha sure if he can do it as long as he gives 100% to everyone in class for the 3rd test.

Professors can pretty much do whatever they want. Never assume that there are rules, because there are not.

^Umm...no. Graduate school may bend a few rules, but not undergraduate. Instructors have a ton of policies and regulations they are required to follow. When haven't you received a syllabus for any class you've ever taken at NCSU?lumbee, if the instructor decides not to adminster the test, they need to properly explain how grade adjustments will work. However, if a test is given ... you'd have until this Friday for the instructor and his/her students to take the test.[Edited on April 18, 2006 at 5:49 AM. Reason : .]
