What certifications are valuable in an electrical engineering or computer engineering career?

Specifically, what are some certifications that companies really like to see on a resume and what are some certifications that provide you with valuable knowledge not otherwise presented in a normal EE curriculum?

Finally, are any worthwhile ones located somewhere online for free?

i didn't know whether to put this here or in tech talk, so lets see what this place turns up
