I'm sayin', I'm kicking myself for not listening to any of this stuff until a few months ago. I really didn't know the guy was a solid producer, for some reason I thought that Madlib did a lot of his beats, but that was probably just for Madvillainy... but the Special Herbs discs... good fuckin' stuff-ZiP!-

People are always looking for ways in which to show everybody the extreme degree of their keepin' in real. But yeah, I haven't heard this record, maybe I'll check it out.

who still says "keeping it real" in 2006?

"It used to mean someone who carried mixtapes in his backpack but now white suburban kids call themselves backpackers. And they're basically just people who keep whining about they want hip hop to go back to the way it was before because they dont fit into the whole "party scene" yet they are completely oblivious to the fact that hip hop was created from block parties. They also listen to a lot old skool hip hop like Public Enemy which is really weird since PE music was mostly about black rights and freedom.Basically they are now just sad white suburban kids who dont fit into the hip hop culture want to fit in so bad that they try to re-arrange it to suit their own needs. They're just as bad as all the stupid gangsta 50 cent shit that is out right now. If you truly wanna be hip hop, then just BE. Stop tainting it with your stupid shit."ohh... it was the whole conversion from people with backpacks with spraypaint and crap to now mean white suburbian kids, gotcha.-ZiP!-

i like his special herbs series, more than his actual vocal work, usuallyeven though, he recycles A LOT. I'm more appreciative of the shit he's able to find, and mix up

I don't dislike Slug for Atmosphere's success.I've jsut never really liked him at all.and Sage Francis was a phase, I think....I still think he's very skillful, but I don't go check him when he comes around anymore.I like Aesop, primarily because he's always the fucking tangent, by hip hop standards.
4/13/2006 11:47:28 PM
i was disappointed that aesop wasn't quite as robotic sounding in personi was disappointed that sage mainly performed his "healthy distrust" stuff when i saw himi have always loved the atmosphere shows i've seen-ZiP!-

Atmosphere puts on a great show every time. I actually saw them at some podunk college in g-boro a few years back, and MF doom opened.Aesop may not sound exactly the same as on his records (probably because there are about 11 layers to his vocals), but he can still flow.Sage Francis sucks.
