Recently my computer will not allow me to access websites that require login (ex. webmail, ebay, facebook etc.). If I'm already logged in then I can view the site (that's how I got on the wolf web) but if the site requires me to type in a user name and password it either won't let me view the login page or won't let me past the login page. I've tried using different browsers (internet explorer, mozilla and AOL) but it makes no difference. My Window's firewall is turned off because i'm running Norton Personal Firewall (2003 edition). I can't open the Norton Personal Firewall program but I think that's a whole other problem in itself (I could be wrong though and that might be part of the reason that I can't access certain websites). I ran Spybot search and destroy but was unable to find anything related to this problem. I even reset internet explorer back to its default settings, but no luck. I use a wireless connection and considered that, but my roomate also uses our wireless connection and he has not experienced any problems, so I assume the problem must be in my computer.Has anyone heard of or experienced this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

^I'm not 100% sure that I know what the HTTPS protocol registration is but I think you might be right (or close anyway). While using Mozilla Firefox I went to Tools > Options > Connection Settings and switched the settings from "direct connection to the internet" to "auto-detect proxy settings for this network" and it allowed me to access webmail one time. But, when I logged out, closed the tab, and tried again, I could no longer access the site. I tried the same thing for other sights, but it made no difference. I am by no means a computer whiz but I know enough to know that this makes no since. Does this sound like a virus or has some internet setting been changed that I have yet to find?Side note: There was a week or so when I was unable to access webmail or log onto ebay (I can still access ebay, I just can't log in) but I could still access/log in the facebook. Now I can't access any website that requires login (accept for TWW apperently, but I have this sight set up so that I'm automatically logged in everytime I open the homepage, whereas the other sights require me to type in a username and password)

Find a website that does not use a secure login (you can log in to livejournal without a secure login). Have someone you know log in to LiveJournal.com wih their account, but with secure login disabled. If they can log in then your poblem is definitely HTTPS related. I don't know how to fix messed up protocols though other than reinstalling windows.
