I am a hurricanes fan and a red wings fan. Them meeting in the playoffs is very strange for me. It will be very strange this year, as I have become a much bigger Canes fan than I was when they met in the finals.

The Red Wings got me into hockey in the 90's (guess where the 91 in my name came from), and when the Whalers moved here I became a Canes fan. Like GiZZ, it was very surreal for me when they met in the finals (I was cheering for the Canes). Over the years my Red Wings allegiances have faded, but I still enjoy watching them play and will probably cheer for them in the West. The game at the RBC Center in January was fantastic.

Truly - I think I was in sixth grade at the time we won the first cup in 42 years (I lived in Detroit), and during the playoffs even my teacher got very slack. We didn't do much in class. The whole city was just euphoric.

I was at a party for the final game when it was Canes-Wings in the finals. It was cute to see this whole southern culture suddenly shift and show such interest in hockey, when all along they had no idea what they were up against. Needless to say, that was a quiet party.
