well...not much really, at times the offense looked good and the new defense did at times as wellRunning game really looks good though, Baker and Brown really showed alot today, Baker had a NASTY cut for that first TD.QB situation doesnt look so hot, Greco can BLAZE though, i dont know why Evans is our 2nd string over him.
4/8/2006 6:32:01 PM
you forgot the important question, how does the stadium look?
4/8/2006 6:33:11 PM
cause evans can throw the ball ?
4/8/2006 6:35:27 PM
^^^i was also impressed by greco. i think our offense can do alright with baker and brown, but our defense looks like it needs some work.[Edited on April 8, 2006 at 6:35 PM. Reason : ^]
4/8/2006 6:35:29 PM
Stone still sucks.
4/8/2006 6:56:06 PM
GRECO PLEASE PLEASE GRECO
4/8/2006 6:56:52 PM
4/8/2006 7:12:21 PM
stadium looks good. The cleaning of the upperdeck(non-pressbox side) looks good. The new section seems to be making pretty good progress as far as I could tell.
4/8/2006 7:13:35 PM
id like to see the whole place with some color upgrades as far as the old side, maybe it was just because it was so wetas far as the new side, it looks good, looks like they are about to start pourin for the main decks shortly
4/8/2006 7:14:47 PM
4/8/2006 7:55:39 PM
Also impressed with Greco. He's quick as hell, and seems to have a serviceable arm. I'm less worried about our WR situation than I used to be after seeing Newell and James. Newell looked particularly good.
4/8/2006 8:31:44 PM
I didn't get to go... had to work. Someone was saying that Reggie Davis was playing Linebacker
4/8/2006 8:33:07 PM
I missed the spring game today - had to work.....Did anyone see Darrell Blackman at WR?
4/8/2006 8:37:53 PM
^Yes. Blackman was in as WR several times and caught some balls.^^Also true. Reggie Davis was listed on the roster as a linebacker, and saw the field on defense. I wasn't expecting that one...
4/8/2006 8:39:26 PM
yea Davis was LB, had a sack actually
4/8/2006 8:39:46 PM
who won?
4/8/2006 8:44:27 PM
Cool. Thanks.Yeah form what I am hearing our top WRs are Geron James (great name so close to Lebron) > Newell > BlackmanThat isnt too shabby, but can we get them the ball?Im sure Stone knows he has to put up #'s or his job will be taken from him. What about Burke? Isnt he supposed to be our freshman QB savior or somehting like that?Did he even play? Who is this Evans guy?[Edited on April 8, 2006 at 8:48 PM. Reason : sp]
4/8/2006 8:47:37 PM
Burke isn't on campus yet... none of the freshmen are (Unless they enrolled early...?) Don't think Burke did
4/8/2006 8:49:39 PM
think about thisBurke is still in high schoolits April...
4/8/2006 8:49:42 PM
Oh yeah I forgot about that. And to think I was pissed last year missing Toney Baker at the spring game too.
4/8/2006 8:53:24 PM
Okay, here's a question. There were 4 QBs on the roster they handed out: Stone, Evans, Greco, and Fedewa. Fedewa didn't play a down, but was dressed--is he just crappy enough that they know he'll never see the field? However, there was a fifth QB on the sidelines. Blond kid wearing #4. Is he that guy that transferred here from Nebraska? Was he not on the roster b/c he's sitting out this year due to the transfer, or is there some other reason?

4/8/2006 10:04:28 PM
How many penalties were there? LOL!
4/8/2006 10:10:31 PM
^^ yes he was. went to nationals. playing both sports for us
4/8/2006 10:49:05 PM
I thought that 3rd string running back was pretty impressive, reminded me a lot of Barry Sanders. Wish I could remember his name, but he wore #34.
4/8/2006 11:15:38 PM
fuck yeah! That kid is quick and slippery, a very good compliment to our core of running backs. The ground game is looking very strong for next year. How about Bedics the fullback, #4? He only had one carry that I saw, might have missed one, but the kid is a hoss. 6'0" 250lbs, and kinda quick for it.
4/8/2006 11:19:02 PM
^^Jamell Eugene...#28... 34 sucked....Eugene was fast as fuck, but didnt break a bunch of tackles like we're used to seeing with Andre and Toney.
4/8/2006 11:21:54 PM
^Yes you are correct it was #28 not 34. Let's see Trestman come up with something with Brown, Baker, Eugene, Blackmon and heck why not Greco, he's probably faster then them all
4/8/2006 11:28:17 PM
Greco, if not at QB, ought to be on the fucking field. That negro was FAAAAAAAAAST. He'd make a good wideout or DB, but he's worthless on the sideline. If they could teach him another position, that might improve chuck's standing in my eyes. (I dont hate Chuck, but he could help himself by getting Greco on the field.)
4/8/2006 11:31:41 PM
What year is Greco? Was he on the team last year?Evans played WR a few snaps last year right? So does that mean we have 3 scrambling Qb's? Is Burke gonna be a standard drop back QB?Kid looks kind of "slow" [Edited on April 9, 2006 at 12:03 AM. Reason : asdf]
4/9/2006 12:00:30 AM
Greco is a redshirt freshman.
4/9/2006 12:10:31 AM
remember there are two evans, they are twins. one is a qb one is a wr
4/9/2006 12:14:01 AM
IF U WANT A TOUCHDOWN.....GIVE IT TO ANDRE BROWN
4/9/2006 12:15:08 AM
Daniel(the qb) got a snap or two last season at WR because one time he dropped back to pass it (after it was thrown to him) and scrambled and I was pretty impressed. ANd I agree with WolfAApack Greco will be extremely useful on the field somewhere.[Edited on April 9, 2006 at 12:20 AM. Reason : ]

Most important question.......How did the OL look?I know qb is a big deal but we cant even hand it off to our stud backs if the line sucks.
4/9/2006 1:20:49 AM
^the OL is not our only problem. We are basically hurting at every position except RB[Edited on April 9, 2006 at 1:27 AM. Reason : bah]

Both of the backups actually looked AS GOOD (not really better) than Stone, but Stoner was playing against the first team D, and we have a fairly experienced secondary. On the bright side, stone didnt do anything stupid, and his INT was on a tipped ball from what I saw...where the receiver hit it first. Stone still has a small problem over-throwing receivers, but thats MUUUUUCCHHH better than underthrowing them for an INT like Davis did. If we can move the ball on the ground, and Stone can make a throw when they start stacking the box, we'll be fine. That will probably require stone to complete between 13-19 passes per game because Andre and Toney will not go down....unless they're gang tackled....and thats not an over-statement. Oh, and Willie Young looked prett good. He definatley will not over-power the tackles, but he's scrappy, so that makes up for some of his size. He'll bulk up a little between now and the season, but I dont think we'll be as bad as we think at DE. We'll make up for a lack of size with speed and fresh legs. I also thought Kyle Newell and Geron James needed stick-em on their hands....Kyle caught a slant for a touchdown...or something. James dropped a few. They're the future of our receiving so they better step up...plus they're tall as shit AND fast, so if they learn to catch they'll be disgusting. They're exactly what we need, unless they cant catch like today.^ and ^^ the O-Line looked pretty good, except for our right tackle, that got pwnt by young's speed a couple times that I saw. Other than that, there were only a few breakdowns...which is MUCH better than last year (of course, no mario and manny this year), and the runners had plenty of room. I couldn't tell but, do you think some of Stone's over throwing problems were due to the weather? Like his recievers not being able to get down field. Because I thought all the qb's over threw the recievers more than I would like them to, but then again I expect perfection. And yes, Stone's int was through the hands of his reciever and the safety got hit in the chest with it from the way it bounced off the reciever.
4/9/2006 1:47:57 AM
highlight of the day = meeting Mario
4/9/2006 1:49:25 AM
well Geron James can't catch at all so dont expect much from him EVER, Kyle Newell has some potential to be a solid WR. Blackmon, Dunlap, and Barret are real good. We have tons of WRs coming in, so we are set there.
4/9/2006 1:54:15 AM
^^^idk man...its possible. Stone has a hell of an arm though, so he'll be able to tone it down if it becomes a problem overthrowing. What you dont want is a qb underthrowing on all of the deep balls. Sometimes in 1 on 1 coverage, you want to underthrow to give your receiver a chance to make a play....but in traffic that is a HORRIBLE idea. He'll be fine as long as he has a few seconds to think. Its all gonna depend on the O-line, but I think the coaches realize that this year. We'll be fine...we looked better on both sides of the ball this year than we did last year at the spring game.^I wouldnt throw James under the bus yet. He's still young...if he gets in a game and does that shit over a period of time, then we can judge him. He didnt practice all of last year either, so that might have something to do with it. i was kinda worried about our D when pretty much every goal line situation was a touchdown. i remember Kyle Newell's big td. he was big and fast, and the guy's in front of me were like, "damn, who's that. he's big and fast." he definitely made the fans learn his name on that one. yeah Greco is hella fast. i wonder if he could be a WR. how about placing him on special teams as a PR. i'm definitely not getting my hopes up like some though. i mean the coaches know what the other coaches will do, so it's not a true measure of the team. i'm going to reserve my judgement on the team until after the FSU game.

4/9/2006 1:39:23 PM
i wouldn't really care if they were just all white, but they were white and short
4/9/2006 1:52:36 PM
opposed to being black, dumb and on full scholarship?
4/9/2006 2:15:59 PM
^^^^whenever^^^Dont sleep on Geron James. When our senior WRs left last year and were being interviewed after the bowl game they all agreed on one thing when questioned about our top reciever for next year:Geron JamesIm hoping they know something we dont (and didnt see in the spring game)
