can you go balls out to the speed limit (absent burnout)?
4/6/2006 2:30:15 AM
so long as it hooks up....
4/6/2006 2:36:05 AM
i have heard of tickets for unreasonable acceleration (and deceleration for that matter)
4/6/2006 2:36:53 AM
i think so unless its "a speed contest" or whateveri've also heard if you only spin 1 tire you're car can't slide so you can't get wreckless endangerment. but i think thats bullsh*thonestly i think a cop can ticket you for whatever he damned well pleases.

4/6/2006 3:25:43 AM
is wreckless endangerment really endangerment?
4/6/2006 3:44:40 AM
Ehh, excessive display of power. Not sure if they ticket for that in Wake County, but they DO ticket for it.Regardless of whether your break into a spin or not. Mike
4/6/2006 8:04:12 AM
they can get you for competition for speed with yourself or something
4/6/2006 9:24:28 AM
wreckless driving.
4/6/2006 11:20:47 AM
if they want they'll give you a racing ticket - doesn't matter if the guy beside you didn't race you - or if there wasn't a guy beside you
4/6/2006 11:25:08 AM
4/6/2006 11:44:09 AM
what if you only have 90hp
4/6/2006 11:57:07 AM
^thats what i'm saying. if I can get a ticket for flooring it in a geo, then a corvette should get a ticket for like half throttle or something

I got pulled over on Avent Ferry one day when I was turning off of Western. There was a car coming up Avent Ferry turning into the hotle/dorm thingy there. I just did my normal acceleration (I mean, I come close to 40 in 1st gear), but the car decided he could make it across in front of me. I had to hit the brakes to miss hitting him, and the cop behind me hit his lights. Told me I accelerated too fast...don't know if he would have ticketed me because when he saw my military ID (strategically kept on top of the drivers license), he started talking about his days in and let me go.
4/6/2006 3:08:35 PM
40mph in 1st is pushin' it
4/6/2006 3:15:32 PM
i mean police can always use the "for conditions" ruleyou were going to fast for conditions... accelerating too fast for conditions blah blah blahthats their... i can do what i want power-trip clause.god i hate copsohh by the way yall... there has been a cop watching the stop sign @ the corner of varsity & crest on occasion recently... he sits in my apt complex for about 2-3 hours 3-4 times a week.
4/6/2006 3:40:14 PM
^thanks i'll keep an eye out doin my rolling stop onto varsity
4/6/2006 4:40:36 PM
I got a ticket for "improper start from a stop" one time. But I did break the tires loose when I hit it in first.
4/6/2006 6:08:33 PM
4/6/2006 6:13:15 PM
not too much actually, that improper start ticket was $150
4/6/2006 7:10:48 PM
wreckless driving, what are you people, fucking retarded, it is spelled recklesshttp://www.ncga.state.nc.us/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/HTML/BySection/Chapter_20/GS_20-140.html
4/6/2006 7:26:44 PM
My Cultass used to chirp the tire @ part throttle when shifting into 2nd and 3rd. Got pulled several times for that. One cop said he could write me a C/R for it even though I never exceded 2500 rpm or 30 mph. Any chirping of the tires is a no no
4/6/2006 8:04:15 PM
ive been stopped for burnouts twice both times i just told the cop i was just learning how to drive a stick and it was an accident he let me go with out tickets both times
4/6/2006 9:15:35 PM
that is the best excuse

you had a chevelle with a 454, that is bad as!
4/6/2006 11:53:26 PM
the first time I ever got pulled over was for doing a burnout. i remember telling the cop "How is it careless and reckless if the car isn't moving forward?"he got pretty pissed, put me in the back of the car, hassled me a lot, searched my car, but didn't give me a ticket.

on a related note, what's the legality of entering a turn at the full legal limit (of the road you are turning off? of the road you are turning on to?), and possibly maintaining the full legal limit throughout the manuever?how does this apply to turning manuevers to/from roads that have differing speed limits?[Edited on April 7, 2006 at 5:28 AM. Reason : presuming no audible/visible loss of traction]

people..... everything is up to the officerif you look like you're going too fast then i'm sure you'll get a careless and reckless.if he's having a bad dayyou def will if its a crowded intersectionyou have to realize these are the same cops that sit in my apt complex waiting for people to roll through a stop sign that if you stop in the propper area you can't fucking see anything.i bet that guy would give you c&r for scratching your balls while driving.
