Arabic is also my easiest class, but I love it! Ustaaza Khater is a great teacher, and worth every minute of the busy work she assigns. I'm learning more from her "easy" class, than from the majority of my more difficult ones. I'll continue taking Arabic until I graduate, even if it isn't a tough course.

^I am really enjoying the class. I am not a native speaker, but I find the class to be very easy, if you do the assigned work. There is a lot of book work and vocab and things to learn, but if you just keep up, you'll do great in the class. If you have any background in Arabic, I am sure you'll do even better in class. We learn the formal "news" type of Arabic, and if we do colloquial, it is Egyptian. Professor Khater is one of the best teachers I've had at State and she makes the language very simple to learn. One of the good things about the course, is that once you buy the books for the first semester, it's all you'll need to finish out the four semesters if you choose. If you have the time, take the class, it's worth it.

If it's too easy for ya, go for the Cambridge publication (my prof used to call it "The Orange Book") called "Modern Standard Arabic." This is the most condensed, comprehensive and straightforward delivery of the language. I was able to cover about half the book in one semester on my own and report to a prof once a week for a few hours to drill, test and prepare for the next week.

Yes, it's so easy you can do it yourself, people! Just grab an Arab every once in a while to keep the pronunciation and verbal retrieval on par with regular "students" and after about lessons 1-10 you'll be ready for Arabic 3.

That being said I still love al-Ustaathah!
