Just picked this up for PS2, pretty good game. A lot better than last years version. I also pre-ordered it for 360, at which point I will sell my ps2 version, but if you like baseball games, it is at least worth a rental. It is the first game I have seen to have real minor leaguers that have not played in actual major league games. For the Yanks, for example, it has guys like Phillip Hughes, CJ Henry, and Jose Tabata. All you stat-heads will love this game too, because of the amount of stat tracking and stuff it has. Its nuts.

nothing is better than last years MVPBut i'm in love wit 2K Sports VIP system, and this one is supposed to be the deepest one yet....that inside edge shit sounds hot.

I always used to play the NFL 2kX/ESPN games, and MVPfucked up
4/5/2006 4:20:22 PM
Yea it is not as good as MVP, but the depth is unbelievable. Way deeper than MVP ever was.The gameplay is a ltitle better than last years version. The defense has a new physics engine, so you can really feel how heavy the players are...you cant stop on a dime and change directions. You also cant throw across your body and get much on it. You have to field like a real defender.Hitting is different, too, with the swing stick, but you can use last years version too. I like the new hitting system, itll just take some getting used to.The graphics arent as sharp as before cause there is so much on the disc, but the 360 version should be sweet. There is also no playable minor leagues, which mvp had...but like i said, it has real prospects. Also, there are real managers AND coaches. So if you want to fire Joe Torre and hire Larry Bowa, you can do it.

^Good stuff. I might buy this.NCAA '06 is already getting old.

I suck at baserunning and fielding and I have not mastered hitting my spots as a pitcher, but I like the game so far. The graphics were a huge turnoff at first, but it's true that this game is deep as shit.I had never played a 2K baseball game, so this is a learning process for me. I hit a lot of homeruns though, anyone else?

i am more of a fan of the show than mlb 2k6, i rented both from blockbuster and the show was much more indepth in the franchise mode, the career mode is pretty nice as well. The one redeeming factor about mlb 2k6 was the WBC
4/11/2006 12:52:42 AM
one thing i really like about 2k6 is the audio customization. You can add player intro music, specific to any player in the game. So I have been loading songs on my 360 the last two days. Also you can change the stadium and menu music. its going to be pretty awesome. Also 2k6 has player-specific gear. Such as the players real gloves with their real logos and stuff....real helmets. player-specific arm-bands with their signatures.fans will jump up and try to catch homeruns and foul balls. Its just going to be sick good.

bttt this shit is AWESOME for 360
4/11/2006 1:11:52 PM
give us some details you have to make me buy it

I have played 7 games, five have completed, two have frozen in the sixth inning. Positives:The graphics are fantastic. The crowd interacts with the ball, trying to catch fouls and homers and it looks very realistic. The helmets, player models, uniforms, equipment, gloves, heads, and stadiums all look pretty much perfect. The heads could be better, but they are still pretty good. The gameplay is much different than the current gen version. First of all, the computer never takes control of your fielders and prevents you from making an out. Secondly the doubleplay animations are much better. (no more of those stupid 360 turns)The physics really work well here, and feel much better on this version. The rosters are good, the update makes them perfect. lots of free agents.Negatives:Jon Miller and Joe Morgan mess up a lot of stuff in the audiothey removed player intro musicthe freezing issueSometimes there can be too many homeruns.Other notes:I just played a 12 inning game in which I was the yankees and i played the blue jays. best game ever. I hit a bomb with A-Rod in the first, and a 3 run shot with matsui in the 7th. However wang got knocked out of the game in the 5th inning allowing 5 runs...so it was 5-5 until I hit a 2-run double with Cano in the 12th, but Rivera blew the save and it was tied at 7.then in the 15th inning, I hit a solo homerun with Giambi, and an RBI single with Damon and won 9-7.so much fun.
4/11/2006 7:55:22 PM
freezing issue? is this a common occurance with this game?
4/11/2006 9:05:09 PM
^from what ive heard from several people, it's an extremely big problem
4/11/2006 9:17:04 PM
If anyone needs updated rosters for MVP 2005, I could hook you up. Holla at me. Oh yeah, PS2 only.
4/11/2006 10:46:24 PM
yea they figured out the freezing issue. If your VIP and your Gamertag are the same name, then the game freezes for some reason.
4/12/2006 8:36:38 AM
havent had the freezing issue myself but it downloads an XBox Live update when you first start the game; I guess that might be the fixthis game is fucking great...can I say fucking? oh yeah, this isnt Sports Talk...its a great game though...addictive as shit...i'm not the biggest baseball fan but this game is really really good...all the 2K6 games for 360 have been pretty good too
5/15/2006 12:26:37 PM
the game is addictive, but you have to fix the gamesliders. The outfielders arms are too strong and homeruns go too far.
5/15/2006 1:14:05 PM
yeah my average is like 6 homeruns per game no matter what I do, and the average distance is about 460 feet or so...ridiculous
5/15/2006 2:05:16 PM
i just got the game saturday so i'm not quite having the problems with hitting HRs too far hahathough Torii Hunter leads the MLB in HR, RBI and BA
5/15/2006 2:29:10 PM
so since i havent really played any MLB 2K games before this I have a question...obviously to hit a homer you want to swing back (step) and push the stick forward (flyball swing)...but what determines the distance? is it strictly getting perfect timing on step and swing, or does it have to do with how hard/quickly you push forward on the swing stick? also is the only way to steal a base with one runner only if you have more than one runner on base to switch to the runner camera/view (B button on 360)?
5/15/2006 4:56:11 PM
i just hit a 2 run homer in the corner that the announcer said was foul then said was a homerun...i got 2 runs for it and the same batter stayed up to bat
5/21/2006 8:24:40 PM
yea the game has bugs sometimes. I once hit with Robinson Cano twice in a row after grounding out to secondand a few times I have only had 2 outs and the inning ends.
5/21/2006 8:25:29 PM
good game though...i made a superwall climb catch at fenway hahah
