Ok TWW, i need a favor. I need ya'll to keep an eye out for Officer Davis from Westek. He is an older white dude about 5'8'' balding with glasses, and takes his fucking job serious. He's pinned my ass but didnt show for court yesterday. The case has been continued since january, and the lawyer said if he noshows again he can get it thrown out. A buddy here at UH said he hasnt seen him in a while, and i know he got his knee fucked up in a fight, so maybe hes done...

Hopefully he's sitting on a fishing boat somewhere drinking a beer, i dont give a fuck as long as he isnt back in court.

thx

well, if i found out he was retired, i could get my lawyer to talk to the DA and get it dropped instead of waiting it out, i need to let the Marines know somen before i miss October's OCS deadline...

without opening all the dumbass comments night went like this:

A Friday night last November, Davis stops me commin in UH said i was going too fast, told me to go 10
Next night, i pull in, remember what he said, go 10. HE stops me again, said i was driving too slow, wrote me a DWI...wtf...got me kicked out of AFROTC and everything....such is life

^^hells ya they can. Thats a mistake people make. My sister's bf used to be the chief of a company in charlotte like westek and he told me how it works. Some damn company police act in NC says that if company X hires thier sorry asses, then on company X's property, they are full blown cops, guns, ticket books, etc. soon as you hit Tryon in our case, they aint shit. Why do you think they are such hardons about it? this is their little world and they like to play real cop....

"ive been doing this for 23 yrs" -davis
-so why the fuck is partolman for westek the highest you could climb on the totem pole?

And this is a perfect description of how Westek operates. They just cuff you without saying shit because they're cowboys who typically don't know what the fuck they're doing anyway. They're notorious for not showing up in court and filling out paperwork improperly or not at all. A couple years back, Westek went under review and almost lost the ability to continue providing company officers to enforce the law. I suggest that everybody avoid these guys and the small areas that they are allowed to operate in.

Rudy, I'd bet $50 that this guy isn't coming to court.

If this didn't deal with drunk driving, which is hazardous enough as it is. I ought to let him live in this fantasy world.

That way, when he pulls up to the gate (remember he's doing USMC OCS), he'll be even more shocked that YET AGAIN, he can still be arrested and given a ticket for driving under the influence.

Christ, you'd think mistakes would be an opportunity to learn.

^^I imagine it depends on the circumstances. My Westek cop didn't show up four times in a row. It just kept getting continued, and there was no mention of "obstruction" or anthing like that.

LOL, the second time, the judge did call his office from the courtroom though. She wanted to get me.

And, oh yeah, he never did show, and all charges were dropped. We suspect he quit. He told me (actually the beathalyzer lady, but I overheard) that I was his first arrest, and I kinda gave him a hard time. He was also so nervous that he forgot to search me or my car. He also didn't get any of my information from the car. He was shaking when he was talking to people at the jail. English wasn't his first language, and he kept stuttering. He definitely didn't know what he was doing.

are you sure? seems to me that falls under the citizen's arrest category, which NC has none.

hiring someone as securtiy doesnt make them a cop. sure as far as company x is concerned they can blow their whistle or ask you to leave, but they cannot issue a uniformed citation.

im thinkin you got took.

^Grapehead, you're wrong, man. Copmany police officers do exist. Westek is an example. They operated and I think still do operate in the Wolf Creek apartment complex (just one example), and they are literally not allowed to pull onto Western Blvd. to pull you over (unless they're pursuing you from inside Wolf Creek, and even then, it's questionable).

For all intents and purposes, they are real cops--they just can't work outside of the areas they are hired for.

Seriously, Grapehead, they are often mistaken for security officers, and they love allowing you to operate under that assumption.

Basically they are security gaurds w/ Arrest Power. There are many agencies like them, like the Railroad Police, US Mint Police, etc. They only have power on contracted property.

Put me in touch with him.

Marine Aviation--much like any other service--is probably not going to look too kindly upon a DUI. They've got plenty of applicants, and they'll be very likely to go with someone who's far less risk averse.

- yes mistakes are an opportunity to learn

- i doubt "risk averse" is a character trait that any serivce is looking for

- no it doesnt help any, but the only reason i got cut from afrotc is they are reducing my commissioning class by 1/3, and need reasons to let people go; i have friends that walked on thier own without paying back their scholarships its so bad. I can name 5 people off the top of my head i went to college with that are in now, 3 are pilots who had dwis, its all in timing

- i didnt make this thread to talk about dwis, so im not talking about that anymore

Quote :

That sounds like a good reason to me. It actually works out well, as they kill two birds with one stone. They fulfill the quota of people to cut AND they avoid the paperwork of throwing you out.

You do this on active duty and you will most likely get thrown out. End of story. Or, if for some reason they don't throw you out, you will probably not make 1st Lt or Capt (and a pencil eraser could make 1st Lt or Captain), and THEN they will put you out.

Oh yeah, and you will also have no legitimacy when you tell your enlisted people that they need to not drink and drive over the weekend.

I think your chain of command has probably explained this to you BEFORE EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND. If that's how well you follow simple instructions, I don't think you need to be executing missions in the military.

I am pretty sure your attorney would advise against that since they are so prone to procedural errors. Let them fuck up your case so your lawywer has something to work with.

for somebody pissed at him for drunk driving to track ol officer davis down. not that it would result in a conviction but it sure would suck.

It might be for West-Tec or other "Cops" like that, but it isnt for real officers. I know for a fact a case can get thrown out if the city cop or state trooper doesnt show for 2 to 3 court dates in a row.

no its not. you have a right to a speedy trial. if you can convince the judge the trial is being delayed unnecessarily then the judge can demand that the prosecution proceed, or dismiss the case. with no arresting officer they will be hard pressed to move forward.

Im sure you do; however, 2 cols and a retired 2 star all are involved, and all have the attitude that mistakes are made, learn from them and move on. The 2 star is my cuz and has no problems jumping my ass about shit, but didnt feel the need. One of the Cols was my unit commander and did everything possible to keep me, so the whole you arent worth a shit cuz you fucked up attitude doesnt seem to make it past Capt( my COC was a Major, and she went to bat too). The first thing i did was check on long term effects, and it being on record (assuming im convicted...) will not affect promotion, clearance, anything...if i get accepted to OCS. As far as that's concerned, the OSO said it wouldnt help, but that my scores should definately make up for it and that i was very competitive, why would he waste his time if not...

As far as risk aversness, you cant save lives and win wars if you are too afraid to drive a hummer into a machine gun nest and clear the ambush. Im sure you know the situation im referring to. That being said, i wasnt intentionally driving drunk, i made the choice to go home (about a mile drive) instead of staying and getting in a fight with this idiot and his idiot friends, and it was the wrong decision. I dont drive around drunk and agree that its dumb as hell and should not be tolerated, i made a mistake once and had the ill fortune to get caught by his vigilanty ass. If i had been swerving, hitting the curb, etc, then fine, but i was driving fine and he set my ass up from the night before...That being said, the few of you who want to continue to feel self rightous and bitch about drinking and driving, go ahead, i agree with you. Those of you that may have seen this guy around, id appreciate a heads up.

Those are calculated risks--ones where there is some sort of payoff to be had in return for taking the risk? What was your justification for driving home drunk? You're not saving lives. You could have walked home (it was only a mile, right?), or better yet, showed a little officer potential by making a plan before you went out that night.

Or maybe we should push the envelope and take risks while flying, like these people.

Yeah, we took risks and pushed the limits by flying far lower and faster than we were supposed to, and accidentally clipped the wire on a cable car!

A small portion of aviators who think as you do

Hey, let's show off and show some Marines a ride...oops, didn't realize the wheel chocks would float up into the cockpit in zero-gee. But at least we're not "risk averse". I know for a fact the military hates that.

Drunk driving means driving while legally drunk, regardless of whether or not you are performing the duty of driving within the acceptable standards of the law.

No one on here is going to show you any mercy. College crowds have tolerance for a lot of stupid shit ... but drunk driving is NOT one of them.

Not taking sides or casting judgment about DD, but are you Jim Beam or Jack Daniel's geat great grandson, or related to August Busch? To blow .19 and not be a little drunk "cuz I feel fine" is something even John Daly may not be able to top, and he drinks and plays golf 6 out of the 7 days in a week?
