I just bought a Nikon D-50, and I'm not too impressed by it. If I return it is there much better than it out there for about the same price?

learn the camera. the camera isn't going to take a great picture for you, you need to learn what settings to adjust for a certain scenes, how to use the meter, etc. if all you want to do is turn it on, hit the shutter button, and have magic happen, the closest you can get is a point and shoot camera, not a digital slr.

Unlike P&S camera, DSLR usually needs post processing to make the pictures really good. It's amazing how different it can look with autolevels and unsharp mask.
