Why do they call Baseball(i have no problem with baseball) "America's Past Time" when atleast half the players in pro-baseball aren't even American. I mean come on, shouldn't "America's Past Time" consist mainly of Americans, not people who are only in America because they can hit or catch a ball. I find it kinda lame myself. I know that some of you fuckers on gonna get on here and talk all kinds of shit, but all I am trying to say is that if you are gonna call it "America's Past Time" then damnit have AMERICANS playing it, don't go to other countries to get players, when you have plenty right here at home. Bring them in from colleges. I mean the college players what it just as bad, granted there may be some amazing players in other countries, but damn it wasn't started this way, and some (if not all but i am not sure) of the greatest players in history were from right here in America.

See for some reason I knew you fuckers who go in this direction with this instead of giving some real input on the topic. and NO i am not a racist. I just don't understand. I have no problem with the players or the sport. the only problem i have is with the scouts, managers or whom ever makes these decisions.you can't sit there and tell me that if you have trained and practiced hard in baseball, went on to play college baseball, minor league, and whatever else there is, only for the scouts, managers, or whom ever go to another country to get players. but yet it is AMERICA'S past time. no i am not a baseball player, i am just trying(although it seems more like failing) to give an example. you know what on second thought, fuck it.....no matter how i try i will never get real input anyways, because all anyone on here is concerned about is how stupid they can make someone look, or how can they totally twist what someone is trying to say, how they can tell someone they are wrong, or how great they can make theirself look, or how they can insult someone.....you get the picture here.
4/1/2006 8:58:06 PM
so, you come in here and make an unsubstantiated claim (half of baseball players aren't american) and then get pissed off that we won't accept your claim and call you an idiot for making it? good idea

Just a thought. What country are Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey, Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux, Mark Prior, Chris Carpenter, Randy Johnson, Derek Jeter from???There are still more USA players than any other country.

"america's pasttime" has less to do with the people playing it and more to do with the people watching ita hot dog and a beer at wrigley field or yankee stadium is about as classic american as you can getbaseball is also an older sport than basketball or footballas for pros, no nfl or nba team has been around for more than 40-50 yrs wheres some baseball teams have been around for over 100 yrs.EXPLANATION ENOUGH FOR YA, BIG GUY?

Only 25% of MLB players active on a roster are Latino (DR, PR, Cuba, Vz, etc.). Take out the handful of japanese, Australian, Canadian, etc. and you still have an overwhelming majority of US born players.
