I got someone who needs her laptop repaired. She dropped her laptop, and guess it landed on the cord while it was plugged in. When she tried to plug in the cord again and she saw sparks, but no power. Tried other cords with no success...Guess the jack has to be resoldered.Know anyone who can do it for around $50? Thanks

If she saw sparks, I wouldn't get my hopes up.When you say tried other cords, do you mean the cord that plugs into just the power brick or new power bricks into the laptop jack? Can she borrow someone else's battery to see if it boots up? I would try that route first, it would give you a better clue to see if the laptop if really fucked. Try giving quinn, fregac, state409c, etc a pm if no one else jumps in the thread.

^ He didn't make it sound like it didn't boot, just that didn't recieve power when plugged in. This is normally a simple repair. Of course, the only time it happen to be the laptop was under warrenty and I had the mobo replaced.

The power jack is messed up. That's it. It worked fine with battery...till it died.
