quicktime is only giving me audio.

this is not a pirated movie!!! it's a dvd and i have to show it to a class in like 30 mins.

anything you can do to help is doing a lot!!!!

If it's a DVD it isn't an avi.

if it's a DVD and you're on a mac, it will open in the native DVD Player.
If it's nearly any other kind of file that you probably downloaded from bittorrent (or not, i don't care), you should be able to open it with VLC
