Just bought a BFG 7800GS OC card, and its not quite performing like I had hoped. I have a three year old Chieftec 420W PSU. Could this be underpowering it? If I upgrade to an Antec 500W PSU will I see a performance increase?AMD Athlon 64 3500+1GB DDR Corsair XMS RAM7800GS

GS is a AGP card...higher GT's are PCI-E... (as far as I know could be different with the 7900's but the ones I just found were all PCI-E)if you don't have AGP 8x (I got excited about the GS but then found my asus p4s533 mobo only supported 4x)if you were underpowering it your computer would act REALLY funny...

I have AGP 8xpaid 300 for the card. I am pulling 12000 in 3dMark03, and I’m noticing that in reviews of the card, others with similar (or slightly lesser setups) are pulling 14000. What’s going on?

is the 3dmark score your only reason for being unhappy?

No, its not just the score that’s bothering me. The performance in games is better (obviously) than when I was using the 9800XT, but its not THAT much better.

thats because most game developers don't write games that scale extremely well due to the bottleneck usually being texture caching. they write games that the large majority of people can run to get their base sales, then they make the games run perfectly on whatever top of the line hardware pushed by their sponsors.
