you are a fool if you think we were the best team in college basketball that year. we got lucky and went on a hot streak at the end of the season and rode it all the way to the national championship. houston was by far the best team in college basketball that season

^^no it's the best way to find out who wins a championship. it'd be very hard to argue that a single-elimination tournament determines the best team. there's a good bit of luck. No doubt that winning six games in a row isn't easy, but that doesn't mean that the winner is the best team.

if this were the case, then any time a tennis player won a tournament, they'd be the best player in the world until the next tournament a week or two later. when someone else entirely wins.

oh i'm in the present. i realize where NC State stands right now in the college basketball realm, but if that clip doesn't make you feel all warm inside as a State fan, then something might be wrong with you. hopefully sometime in the future we'll rise back up and win another title. all we can do is go out and support the team as hard as possible, and hopefully we'll be rewarded with a great moment like that one.

its sad that we are happy for what has happened in the past?

my point was just that through the first 20 games we had a team that was looking like it could bring us a miracle, and it fell apart.
will we ever get back to the level of the 70s and have an undefeated season? i doubt it. but ill take a 23-11 season(with 2 losses to unc and duke) if it brings us a championship.

baonest is kinda right on here. The '83 championship was a fluke. That's part of what makes it so ridiculously awesome and amazing and kick ass and and OMG WE WON!!!!ish.

Shit, as far as our championship in '74 goes, one could argue that was a fluke too because we had the greatest player in college basketball history on our team.
