aha took it there but all he found out was the current was lower than the other two wiresnothing much he could do

I could get further with more time and more light. That's the big catch...time. A regular shop will charge at least 75 dollars an hour for their time troubleshooting. My time is only 25 an hour, but even that can add up, given the nature of electrical problems.Actually what I found is NO current at all at the taillight sockets. Gonna require tracing the harness back and see if it's been pinched or clipped as a result of your incident.

i was just wondering 'cause if he hadn't, his mind might have been on food instead of the task at hand and he could've forgot to turn the lights on.

I recommend After Hours on Capital Boulevard behind House of Wheels (next to Adventure Landing)... I believe they charge a flat $45 to diagnose the problem, no matter how long it takes them to find the problem! They are always very busy, and may not get to your car quickly... Definitely the cheapest around!

you have to be kidding me

^^no, you idiot. it's not called after hours. it's called pricilla's. and they are across from house of wheels, not behind it.

ahathat might workthink itll pass inspection with the light the way it is?see it rained on the taillight but the suspicious thing is the orange light in the front on that side has the same issuei dont know what the hell it iswe checked the fuses too, looked good!oye
3/25/2006 11:41:10 PM
doubt it'll pass like that, not if it's completely out. Does this affect the brake light on that side too?
3/26/2006 12:01:25 PM
could be any number of things, even a bad switch, it just takes time to trace it out, helps to have a good wiring diagram too, what year make and model is it? and i'm assuming its the turn signal thats screwed up. post all your info and i'll post a wiring diagram tomorrow after i get off work,
3/26/2006 3:28:45 PM
does your turn signal work? if its just the tailight you could just wire it into the tail light on the other side of hte car.
3/26/2006 3:40:26 PM
since there are no brake lights on the front, i'm assuming shes talking about the turn signal
3/26/2006 3:42:12 PM
turn signal worksits the "evening lights" that dont workyou know, when you turn your headlights on the taillight will glow tooso does that orange light, but theyre both outhowever brake light and turn signal workturn signal also works on the orange light up frontits a 200 Ford Focus, i know laugh it up, but thats what ive got so yeah!
3/26/2006 11:53:47 PM
200 Ford Focuswow, was that Emperor Carcalla's Focus?
3/27/2006 12:03:29 AM
sorry 2005i thought i hit that button
3/27/2006 12:07:50 AM
so your parking lights dont work on one side? if its a 2005, i'd let the dealer fix it under warranty
3/27/2006 12:48:48 PM
really, it is under warranty stilljust didnt think that issue was part of my guarantee agreementis it common for people to say "heres my car, check it out, lemmi know what the issue is and the cost before you do anything" ? i dont want them doing something i cant pay for ya know?[Edited on March 27, 2006 at 6:27 PM. Reason : if i do have to pay how much do you think that would cost?]
3/27/2006 6:27:20 PM
just call your local ford dealership (crossroads?).ask for the service dept.. ask the service writer if this issue is covered.
3/27/2006 6:42:20 PM
good idea

If you explicitly state that you want a proper estimate before any work is attempted, and this request is clearly stated on the work order (and it can be) BEFORE you sign it, then you pay nothing for work that you haven't approved.Work orders over 300 (maybe 350) dolla REQUIRE the owner's written permission prior to the work being performed. This is the LAW, and work done without approval as such can be contested in court.

oh nice, thanks for the updatei cant pay under that no problem, i just didnt want it to be a 1200 problem and not know until i came to pick it upwell i guess ive got osme people to call then!
3/28/2006 7:43:10 AM
