it's like a minature of the basketball championship trophy.whoohoo, State wins a National Title! he definitely needs to be honored at the first football game next year, like the way VaTech honored Spyridon Jullien for winning the National Championship in the Hammer Throw.seriously though they should think about giving out a larger trophy for winning a National Title. i have larger trophy's than that from my hockey days. Damn, I know he is fast. When I would go home to FLORIDA people would talk about him. We all know that swimming is not the most well know college sport.

^^ his record is 19.08, which is also a conference record. he was hopeful of going sub-19 in the championships, but it didn't work out that way.he didn't make either of the finals in today's 100-free events.

yeah, i'm sure the pressure is harsh, but in this particular case (and this may sound strange), i think it was probably something to do with the pool. my understanding is that prior to NCAAs, cullen hadn't tapered or shaven (per two girls who used to be on the team that are still close to the team) - NCAAs was going to be his first time. so, in theory, his body should have been in his prime this week. it seemed as though all of the times were somewhat slow (compared to conference times -- but still WAY faster than anything my non-swimming ass could ever do) in thursday's final. the two other acc swimmers who competed in the 50 had sub-20 times at the conference championships, but were over 20 friday. and i was wrong by one-hundreth of a second. his previous best was 19.07 -- two one-hundreths off of the american record.regardless, i'm glad he was able to claim an ncaa championship. he has always seemed to be a really nice kid, and he's improved a lot since coming to State.[Edited on March 25, 2006 at 11:17 PM.
