How did everyone do on quiz 4? Does Baliga curve grades at the end of the semester?

didnt finish it ,and no he wont. I knew how to do pretty much each step of both problems but didnt get to very far. He obviously made that quiz too long because the problems were easy. He wont curve b/c he gives "extra credit" on his exams. He is too self absorbed and arrogant to realize that we are NOT EE majors and so we dont have the background to know this stuff right off. He lectures too fast and speaks like he doesnt want to be there. The only thing he is a "distinguished university professor" about is being a horrible teacher. He is taking perfectly applicable material and making it boring and uninteresting. The book sucks, he sucks, the problem solutions are useless b/c the are only answers so you are screwed if you dont know how to get from point A to point B. I leave his class issed off every day and I want to kick him in the teeth. Sorry for stealing the thread /rant

you sound like whiny bitch RJC. You're a senior, you should be passed that stage...[Edited on March 22, 2006 at 8:28 AM. Reason : d][Edited on March 22, 2006 at 8:29 AM. Reason : d]

I'm in ECE331, but I actually have Osbourne and not Baliga. Osbourne's alright, he doesn't sound anything like what you've described of Baliga. But I have to say that, so far, his quizzes are killing me.

i used the sample quiz as a guide for what to study and this was nothing like the sample quizoh well, i heard he curves nicely

baliga doesn't curve. he only put extra bonus points on the quiz if you can get them right. and i hate the class. i probably did bomb that last quiz figuring i was still drawing my phasor diagram with 10 minutes left. "so can anyone tell me what's the significance of these two phasors? anyone? i'm not letting you out until you tell me." hahaha. what a douche.

Once again, I walked into the classroom- ready for the quiz based on the fact that I had little difficulty with the practice quiz....And once again I walked out of the classroom, ready to throw myself into the middle of the street. The quiz difficulty wasn't that bad.... but we needed more time, b/c it was definitely not the same as the practice quiz.

I was trying to tutor someone in 331, before realizing they had covered more than our 211 class did..

Does anyone have old quizzes for ECE331 (from any professor/semester)? Including the practice ones Dr. Baliga put online throughout this semester (I didn't save them)? I need all the practice I can get.
5/9/2006 1:22:30 PM
for what? did you not pass?
5/9/2006 2:16:51 PM
sadly, no... I did ok on the final, just not well enough to pull my overall grade up. Fortunately, Dr. Baliga was nice enough to inform me of a loophole: Graduating seniors who have met all other requirements (except for the class in question), are eligible for reexamination. The reexamination grade replaces the class grade (up to a C+ is allowed). So the plan is to work every practice quiz I can get my hands on....

osbourne has his quizes and notes on the websiteyou can get to it through the course locker
5/9/2006 9:04:06 PM
this isnt a C wall class so if you got a D you're fineyou know that right?
5/9/2006 10:08:53 PM
^^ thanks, I printed all those out.^ Yeah, I know, and I did decent on the final, just not well enough to bring my overall grade up to a D.... so I ended up with an F (sad, I know). I know the material, I just never finish the quizzes; that and careless errors were what kept me from acing the final as well. I just want to make sure that I don't screw up the reexamination.
5/10/2006 10:58:35 PM
yeah and Dr. Baliga will not curve. I was .07 points from getting the next letter grade and he would not give it to me.
5/11/2006 11:01:24 AM
^ frustrating, I know... Good news though, my reexamination was approved, so now another final (which I will ace!) are all that stand between me and graduation.
5/11/2006 3:06:31 PM
never knew about this loophole. will have to remember this in the fall in case i get into trouble; although i doubt i will.
5/11/2006 3:13:28 PM
Yeah, when Dr. Baliga told me about the loophole, I couldn't help but smiling... He's actually quite nice when you go talk to him. But holsteins84 is right, Dr. Baliga will not curve at all, so if anyone out there plans to take the class with him, do not count on that.
5/11/2006 3:29:39 PM
yea i already took this class last year and def well-aware of the no curving thing. lol in addition, the combover he has distracted me all too often in class so sometimes i would miss things.
5/11/2006 3:37:21 PM
I PASSED! I took the reexamination, and got a B.
5/17/2006 1:37:11 PM
congrats
