It's starting this fall. We have about 9 guys right now, but not sure of their committment level. We really need people who can field and double as relief pitchers.
3/18/2006 1:13:54 PM
after my possible hip surgery, i may do thisi can pitch
3/18/2006 1:17:12 PM
i can play the outfield
3/18/2006 3:05:36 PM
I can play OF/1B. How much would it be?[Edited on March 18, 2006 at 3:11 PM. Reason : ]
3/18/2006 3:10:35 PM
I would definitely be interested, I think.I pitched for a couple years in juco ball before hangin' up the cleats due to an elbow injury. Can still probably throw, just not on a highly competitive level.
3/18/2006 3:16:40 PM
Awesome. The price is $400 for a team. I think 13 people would be a good number. I'll let you guys know once I get everything in order.
3/18/2006 4:05:54 PM
What's the general skill level involved here?[Edited on March 18, 2006 at 7:19 PM. Reason : ]

Well this is the innaugural season for me too. I mean, you gotta know the rules and be fairly athletic. If you got those two down, just have fun. But winning is more fun.
3/18/2006 7:20:08 PM
is there a website for this
3/18/2006 7:21:02 PM
Count me in man.i played SS and pitched growing up.all state twiceI CAN BALL SONKarim and I can be 1-2 on the staff yo.
3/18/2006 7:22:16 PM
shit you sound better than me I'm going to end up managing at the end of the day.I'm talking with a guy that pitched for state for a season, went minors for three, then dropped because he didn't see himself going anywhere. He'd be a hell of an aquisition. No website, but there are several leagues I've found. Again, I'm just throwing this out there to see if I have the interest before going further.Sounds like we might have a team. I bat/throw right, can play any infield position (minus catch and pitch). Would like to stay on the left side of the diamond (since I'm R handed, don't think it much matters since it's not going to be super competitive).[Edited on March 18, 2006 at 7:26 PM. Reason : .]
3/18/2006 7:25:40 PM
i can't play OF. my ability to judge heavy fly balls diminished after about 14...
3/18/2006 7:27:13 PM
It's fun. I didn't play in that league but I did one last year. Played SS then 2B once my arm was too fucked up AGAIN...The field I played at was 380 ft down the line It's wooden bat I assume...
3/18/2006 7:27:17 PM
i'm interestedi played third my whole life and can play pretty much anywhere except short or catcherwhen would we need to sign upwhen does play starthow many gameswhen are the gamesetc.-- jesus christ, 380?where are rec fields with 380' fences[Edited on March 18, 2006 at 7:30 PM. Reason : ]

3/18/2006 7:28:59 PM
Yea man. It was INSANE. I got into one that I thought for SURE was gone and it was like a damn pop up 15 feet short of the track..^^ This was in Cary. There is another one in Durham that is like 375..[Edited on March 18, 2006 at 7:31 PM. Reason : f]
3/18/2006 7:31:02 PM
that's just wrong.i'm used to having 315-330ft poles
3/18/2006 7:32:46 PM
good thing i don't consider myself a power hitter to begin with
3/18/2006 7:32:59 PM
ha, me neitheri've hit 2 homeruns my entire life (in games, i mean)....both my Jr year in HS. one was at the deepest park we played at I hit it barely out at a 405 part of left-center...wind was generous, too.sucked, we'd play shit ass places w/ 280ft poles and 330 in center, and i'd fucking hit peas up the middle.
3/18/2006 7:34:49 PM
me and joel will anchor the rotation 4 sh0
3/18/2006 7:37:21 PM
I hit 2 in high school as well. 1 my freshman year. Fence was like 275. 1 my senior year that probably went like 350.That is why i was so pissed that I really got in to one on that field.. oh well..[Edited on March 18, 2006 at 7:38 PM. Reason : I'm only 5'10 165 so I CAN'T be a power hitter!]
3/18/2006 7:37:58 PM
i used to be a practice homerun kingnever hit one out when it counted though
3/18/2006 7:38:09 PM
3/18/2006 7:38:23 PM
we'll need a southpaw to switch it up a bitone w/ some 3/4 action, 80 pluswe'd fux some people f'real
3/18/2006 7:38:29 PM
I found one fall league. I built in time to find people who really were serious about playing. But I may have plenty here. I'll do some web scouring to see if I can find a summer league. Hell yeah. This coudl be fun. Reliving childhood dreams.About the OF... yeah, that's my problem. Judging fly balls in the OF for some reason diminished out of little league.
3/18/2006 7:39:05 PM
3/18/2006 7:39:54 PM
3/18/2006 7:40:33 PM
ahhhh...cleared up.
3/18/2006 7:40:40 PM
I can think of a couple dudes who would make great OFersI'll get up w/ em^^aaaahhh man, 80 plus is perfect hitting speed...right around 83-84. but yeah, the movement thing at that speed is killer. especially from a lefty, too, throwing 3/4i'm consistently around (WAS) around 85-86 in HS, but i threw 5 pitches, and from 2 very different angles.....otherwise, i probably would've gotten smashed.[Edited on March 18, 2006 at 7:42 PM. Reason : eh]
3/18/2006 7:41:05 PM
you mean they're gonna be throwing it overhand?!fuck
3/18/2006 7:41:50 PM
Yeah the lefty thing is what gets me. I can go to the cages and hit those on 80mph pretty consistently. But honestly, I think we're going to hav ea good mix since it's public. Probably a lot of 60mph dudes with little to no movement. There's perfect speed for chumps like me who never could hit a slider anyway
3/18/2006 7:46:03 PM
to answer some of my questions
3/18/2006 7:47:35 PM
mmmmmmmmmmmmm i like lefty cut/curve pitcheslefties get me when their fastballs tail. that shit looks so fucking flat for 58 feet, then it's falling out 6 inches
3/18/2006 7:47:52 PM
3/18/2006 7:48:08 PM
man, i want to go to the cages soonoh shit, i know a dude who might be able to catch, too.
3/18/2006 7:48:47 PM
What field in Cary is 380 down the line?Biggest field I know of around here is Optimist Park in Raleigh, and I'd assume that's where this league would play its games at.
3/18/2006 9:03:51 PM
fwiw, my #1 pitch was a knuckleball. don't throw hard but played a couple years in college and was 6-0 my freshman year.
3/18/2006 9:04:47 PM
3/18/2006 9:27:18 PM
like i told abonorio id be real interested in playing as wellplayed for Southern Wayne in high school, pitched and played outfield still can do both easily, im more of a 75 mph pitcher but I have a ton of movement and some nasty curveball & sinker action. I know a few guys up here that played with me or against me that could have played small colleges but didnt wanna turn down state for that, one was pitchin close to 90 with killer movement at the time when he stopped the other was lead off for us and I never remember him being thrown out stealing.could be fun, just wondering about wooden or alum batsgrand slam on western is a good place to hit by the way
3/18/2006 10:40:37 PM
i wish i didn't have to co-op this fall i love baseball
3/18/2006 11:10:01 PM
^When were you at Southern Wayne? I played ball with some guys at Lenoir CC that played at Southern Wayne. I'm also pretty familiar with the Wayne County legion program.
3/18/2006 11:10:02 PM
3/18/2006 11:59:49 PM
yeah man, i'm ini can play infield or outfield, prefer SS or 3B
3/19/2006 2:55:37 AM
I'd be all about this if I knew that i would be nearby in the Summer/Fall. I could solve your OF problems fielding wise. I played until my junior year of high school when my leg got all fucked up.Hitting though, I couldn't promise anything.
3/19/2006 3:36:34 AM
Awesome. Here's the deal.Send me (PM) your name, phone, email, position, righty/lefty and any other information and I'll make a roster and distribute that among the rest of us. I got a ton of PMs from you guys already, but one more please Can't wait to put it together and hit the diamond this summer for some practice.
3/19/2006 11:08:40 AM
Also, team name: The Cougs. Has to be.
