Has anyone taken BCH 451 with this professor? Pickaprof has 79.2% A's for the statistics.

79.2% A's? Sounds good, I am taking that this summer with him. I don't know anyone who has had him for 451, but he teaches the Biochem labs, and I have heard good things.

Sweet, I didn't realize that I can sign up tomorrow for it, I think I'll definitely get in
3/15/2006 5:41:24 PM
I didn't mean for everyone to rush into the class. Don't make my chances harder Thanks for the good news though.

dont worry, i dont think a lotta people want to take 451 in the summer...it will be hell for you all, it was bad enough during the year...you wont see the sunlight for 5 weeks

I had Hardin for 452. He spent about 45 minutes talking about how wrong the entire concept of grades was. He said if we simply tried we'd get an A. Almost everyone got an A+ or something. So if you want a good grade, he's a good one to take.

Sounds like my decision to drop it with Sylvia where I would have struggled for a D was a good one

All the As in 452 that you see on the grade distribution are not because of his grading so I wouldn't walk in that class thinking it'll be easy. The TAs actually graded 452... except for the midterm and final. His midterm and final were pretty easy if you knew your stuff but I could see how they would be tricky. He is very smart and can be semi-intimidating and with that said I think he will expect a lot from his students in 451. Just from personally knowing him, that is my opinion.

ok..so for some reason i got to register today....so i got in the class...but is the problem set required? a little box didnt pop up saying it was like it does for labs, so i did just in case, but if i dont need it...im not gunna take it.
3/16/2006 4:37:22 PM
you have to take the problem session with the class. It is required
3/16/2006 6:37:54 PM
the dist'b of 79% is as some said earlier probaly all from BCH 452..
3/16/2006 10:15:59 PM
or other upper classes that he taught, according to school tool this is his first time teaching BCH 451
3/16/2006 11:12:51 PM
hes alright for 452...he does talk bs for like an hour and then you get to spend the next 3-4 hrs doing the lab experiments...the ta's are his bitches

dr. hardin is an anal jackass (coming from someone who got an A+ in BCH452). he also mentions that he's writing all the time (what he is writing is the shitty lab manual for the class--i wouldn't let anyone know i wrote it).
3/18/2006 1:26:32 PM
Get ready for some major studying. Don't freak out. Just do what your told and you will be fine
3/20/2006 11:32:15 AM
yea the good old days of remembering how to draw all 22 amino acids, tca cycle, etc...hardin is pretty slack w/ the labs though i got an A, but its a lotta work
