My Powerbook ran the Software Update thingy today and it said it needed to update some programs like Mail, rsync, and Safari. It downloaded and installed OK, but upon reboot I noticed that Safari.app had become corrupt and replaced with the default 'A' application icon and is like 230K in size.

I used the 10.4 Install DVD to reinstall Safari, but it's the original version (2.0) and I think I remember seeing some newer updates coming out for it (2.0.3). When I do the Software Update again, it still thinks its up to date. Is there any way to force it to do the same security update again?

Thanks!

I ended up calling Apple to take advantage of my premium technical support, and they told me to just download from their website the 10.4.5 update and reinstall that as opposed to waiting for the update to roll in through the Software Update program they have.

It worked like a charm
