http://abc.go.com/primetime/xtremehome/gallery/314.html?photo=1I just moved to Port Orchard, Washington near Seattle, and this house they did a few months ago is like 5 minutes down the road from me. It's out in the middle of nowhere, and most of the houses around it are pretty much a shitpit. Kinda neat though, I drove by it today.

I don't think I've seen that one. Nice yard though!

how does that work exactly? i mean for a lot of people the value and size of the home goes up drastically. does the show pay property taxes for life? what about utility bills? i mean say you were in a crappy, tiny house and didn't have too much money.... doubling the power bill each month and tripling the taxes wouldn't be that great

its like oprah giving you a car then bitching you have to pay taxes on it.... just sell the damn thing and buy a house you can afford...

haha selling a house like that is easier said than done. espec. if it is a really nice one in the middle of crap. plus i don't know if they can sell it... at least immed. they may have signed a contract. but anywho, i was just curious.

Lots of times they pay the mortgage out if I'm not mistaken. The majority of people that I have seen on the show have not always been super poor but mostly just had a hard time with like med bills, recent death, etc. So if they don't have mortgage to pay then they can pay property taxes... maybe I just happened to catch certain shows but that's what I've seen.
