My friend just recieved a win98 machine from her aunt, it doesnt have any anti virus software on it right now. This is the first computer she has ever owned so i am trying to make it as selfsufficent in running as possibleany suggestions?

its her first comp ever and was free, it cant run xp, 128megs of ram and an 833 processor, cant do much with it

pump that baby up to 512MB RAM and it will run XP fine

nope my friend aint a student, down here in charlotte, trying to hook her up as best i can before i head back to raleigh. I found an old Norton 2004, i put that on there but its only a 1 year subscription for free, after that you have to pay for it

seriously, with even 256mb of ram it will run xp fine.upgrade. 98 isnt support by ANYTHING anymore. She can't use a lot of peripherals, printers, etc. She can't use any new software. upgrade it

Win 98 is fine. I run symantec AV myself and it does great. Im sure they are plenty of free ones that you can find online. Might be older but better then nothing.
