You need corporation management skill I believe. I'll check it out and get back to this thread.but if I do, any suggestions on what system to set it up in?edit: I just added you^ to my buddy list in game[Edited on March 8, 2006 at 4:29 PM. Reason : ]

3/8/2006 4:45:21 PM
im gonna start whenever someone gets whatever going and lets me know where i need to be.since i have no idea whats going on, i just installed it.

System: MesybierStation: Mesybier X - TransStellar Shipping StorageTo get there, go to map and search for the system, then do "set destination" and click the autopilot button. It's called "TWW Incorporated"I have to learn Social and Ethnic Relations before any of you Non-Amarr can join the corporation, so just hang out in the nearby systems and run missions and mine and stuff while I learn that. Shouldn't take more than a few hours of skill-ups[Edited on March 8, 2006 at 7:27 PM. Reason : ]

I guess I could come stomp around with you guys. Im based out of Suner, my old mining grounds before I quit last october. I started a new account cause I sold my other one, kinda wish I hadnt now, 1.5billion isk woulda been nice.
3/8/2006 9:29:18 PM
Heading to Mesybier right now...20 freaking jumps.. cripes.
3/8/2006 10:30:12 PM
Sweatpantsi'm amarr as well
3/8/2006 10:52:29 PM
what is the best race to be
3/9/2006 12:05:29 AM
from what I've read.. there isn't a best race..Amaar have really well armored ships, and use laser weapons.Caldari have really good shields and energy toys such as warp inhibitors and such. They get bounses with missles and hybrid weapons.Minmatar have really really fast ships.Gallentine ships get big drone bonuses. And they use rail guns and shit like that...otherwise.. don't think there is a huge difference.

Well, i got blown up for the first time. I guess it was just an excuse to finally upgrade my ship. Something that can handle a bit more. A Caldari Merlin, i believe.PS...i dont like hybrid weapons. the range is too close.
3/9/2006 4:25:29 AM
I think I like my Minmatar guy better than the Amarr dude. The Minmatar has a Rifter, which is one badass frigate. It's got three turret canons and a missle launcher. Plus he's got about 900k isk. I can take on 2 pirates in 0.6 space with ease. The Amarr character doesn't seem as fun. His ship is sooooo much slower. Plus his weapons seem very weak. Maybe I haven't played him quite enough yet, but I'm leaning towards the Minmatar. Lemme know when you get Ethnic Relations, and I'll slide my guy out that way and sign up. I'll repackage my other ship and some of the equipment and leave it in the corp hangar as well.
3/9/2006 9:56:26 AM
learning social lvl III now, it will be done tonight, and then i'll pick up ethnic relations
3/9/2006 1:06:46 PM
so i tried to upgrade some weapons but i had to learn the skill to do thatthen i wanted to buy a new ship but i had to learn the skill to do thatthen i just said fuck it and now im doing some missions.
3/9/2006 1:58:37 PM
To get a new ship the easiest just train to (whatever your race is) Frigate II and that should be fine for piloting your race's frigates.Yeah, and installing some parts requires skill upgrades, it's again easiest to just focus on one type (lasers, masers, hybrids, turrets, etc). Just look around and see what skills are available in the system because a lot of the time all you have to do is fly to another space station 30 seconds away to get it.
3/9/2006 3:11:07 PM
Sorry gang, already in an existing Corp. with some friends. If you guys have specific questions or anything though I'll try to help.
3/9/2006 3:15:45 PM
heh, any way we can form some sort of alliance? btw Sayer what's your new char name?^and yeah, send me some money so I can buy a basic mining barge [Edited on March 9, 2006 at 3:20 PM. Reason : ]
3/9/2006 3:18:29 PM
i installed it last night and registered for the 14 day trial. seems pretty in depth and complicated, but i only looked at it for a bit. i made that character i listed above. any tips or anything for how to get some quick $$ or what i should do first?
3/9/2006 3:29:03 PM
just run missions for your agent(s) to get money, or mine for ore and then refine it and sell it on the market....
3/9/2006 3:37:07 PM
A word of advice...insure your ship. getting blown up and being out several hundred credits really sucks. getting a big chunk of it back helps alot
3/9/2006 8:22:51 PM
Minmatar guy is Lapiss. He's got a beast frigate too. I'm fighting 3-4 pirates at a time in 0.5 space without even getting any armor damage done to me.. Quite fast too.
3/9/2006 9:38:58 PM
I've lost 3 frigates today from being stupid and not warping when I should. I'm just going to buy a big mining rig and you guys can guard me, k?

I've got ethnic relations learned, so head over to Mesybier and apply.

3/10/2006 1:18:34 AM
yeah these pirates are tough
3/10/2006 1:23:49 AM
^i took out two of those on my way out of the system. They can be tough.
3/10/2006 3:46:29 AM
Just so you guys know what sorts of crazy things are possible with this game, my current rig is a logistics cruiser "Basilisk" that is set up for shield transfer and capacitor draining capability. No weapons, strictly fleet combat support cruiser.Basically, it makes everyone else in the fleet invulnerable and you have to take me down first. Tons of fun, and similar to a high level healer type in other MMOs. My buddy runs a stealth bomber type vehicle that can cruise along cloaked and then unleash very high damage torpedos and cruise missles at capital ships.
3/10/2006 11:08:56 AM
^ rogue lol
3/10/2006 11:09:58 AM
^^that's pretty cool.
3/10/2006 11:11:14 AM
K... I'll move over after lunch.Hopefully those pirates will be as easy as the ones I've been dealing with on my side of the galaxy.
3/10/2006 11:36:47 AM
hahaha reading that really made me laugh for some reason
3/10/2006 11:42:29 AM
slackerbCould you give us some pointers for a bunch of new people starting out? We've obviously got a brand new corp as well, and I don't think we really know what to do with it. Should we all be just mining and making $$? Do we need to start getting people to research and manufacture? Is trading an activity we need to get involved with? Also, what's the logical next step after a frigate? I think 0 is trying to get an industrial or a mining barge so he can mine a ton of ore, but like I've got a ton of fighting skills trained up, so I was looking to move into a bigger ass-kicker. I feel like I've gotten a good grasp of the basics of the game, but I just feel clueless as to how to progress forward from here. Any advice would rock.[Edited on March 10, 2006 at 11:43 AM. 3/10/2006 11:43:15 AM
i dont know if i really like the guy i made. if i do end up playing the game, i think i'd want a fighter or maybe do the stealth thing that was mentioned above. that sounded pretty cool.
3/10/2006 11:53:37 AM
^Well the good thing about this game is that you dont really have to start over... just purchase the skillls in that area and start learning them
3/10/2006 1:22:29 PM
the next logical step after a frigate is a cruiser, then BS, then move into the assault versions of those. but that will be at least a year down the road.CCP (makers of the game) have progressed it recently in a way that they want you to choose an area to specialize in. The game is so big now that there is no way to be able to do everything, or fly every ship (some players who started at release can fly all BS's and most HACs/AF's) but for the new person starting out you want to figure out what you want to specilize in. For instance, I used to be a Caldari EW spec. I flew a scorpion that could jam multiple targets from over 180KM's away, and had enough defense capability to get out if things got too hot. I had a second account that was strictly mining/industry oriented, he could fly large mining barges, mine anything, reprocess any ore at 100%, and use tech 2 mining equipment and crystals. Heres some ideas to get you started:If you like.....Flying around cloaked (stealthed) and being the eyes and ears of a corp - Covert Opps/Stealth BomberTackling ships to make it so they cannot warp away and the move very slow while you orbite them going fast as shit laughing as they try to hit you - InterceptorDoing massive amounts of damage in a short amount of time - Ganking Battleship (geddon, blaster-Thron, sniping tempest)Screwing around with ppl so they cant target you or shoot and feel utterly helpless - Electronic Warfare (caldari ships like buzzard, blackbird, scorpion)Want an all around ship that can handle most missions and 0.0 space ops - Tanked Battleships (Raven, Dominix, Apoc)Want to farm low lvl complexes to score some faction loot and possible faction ship blueprints - Assault and Heavy Assault ships.Want to be able to strip mine and entire astroid belt in a few hours and get the chance at some Tech 2 BPOs - Industry/Reaseach (industrial ships, barges, cruisers with mining bonuses (osprey and stabber(I think)))Want a supporting role in small scale battles - destroyer, assault ships, cruisers, logistics, battlecruisersOh yeah one more thing for ppl starting out....one of the best things you can do right now after you choose what you want to do is train those basic learning skills up to 5 and start in on the advanced ones. Most of my characters had all learning skills to 5 and the advanceddd ones to 4. In some cases, it would take 5-10 days off training time of longer skills. So for example if you want to train up ships and weapons then train up your Perception and Willpower learning skills first. Or if you want to do Industry/Science train Memory/Int. Charisma is pretty much useless unless you get really bored for some reason, but that shouldnt be the case for years. Also, go ahead and learn now how to make Insta-Jump bookmarks now. [Edited on March 10, 2006 at 1:48 PM. Reason : ..]
3/10/2006 1:40:21 PM
I've read that it's pretty important to train the learning skills up asap. Are they really that important? What advantage does this give? Just faster training time on other skills?
3/10/2006 1:45:54 PM
lol, i just thought about it 30 seconds after I posted and edited to include that.
3/10/2006 1:49:03 PM
Ok, here's my advice:Try everything in the game at first in order to get a feel for what you want to do. Most people dabble in everything but are good at only one or two things. Things to do in Eve: Run missions - (increases your faction, gets good loot, pretty good $$, but can be a bit repetitive). And by running missions, I mean kill missions. Nobody runs delivery missions more than 1-2 times.Trade - This is what I spend most of my time on. Two types of trading: NPC trading and PC trading. I do mostly NPC trading.Hunt Pirates - we call NPC pirates rats...and basically you just fly around asteroid belts and kill them. You can also do these "dungeon" type events called complexes, and they're more profitable and a lot of fun for the most part.Mine - My least favorite thing to do but probably the most lucrative. Our corp. has corp. mining nights where we all get together and mine at one location. Some people minem, some people haul, some people run security. Teamwork in an MMO? It rocks. Those are the basics, without getting into PVP stuff, which will come much later.I've only been in the game about 3-4 months or so...but you'll catch on fast. Our corporation has 4 divisions: Logistics(trading and hauling), Security, ResMan(research and manufacturing), and MinOps(mining). Basically just figure out what you like.

Heres how you do insta jumps, and they can be used for any object you want to warp in on top of (cargo cans, stations, gates, etc..)This example will use warping from a station to a gate to jump instantly.Warp to your desired end point, gate for example. Align your self so that you are 12km past the object lined up with station on the other side and make a bookmark. When you warp from the station to that bookmark at 15km you will land right on the gate and be able to jump instantly. Like:Station_________Gate____Bookmark (12km past gate)-0-_____________--0____xWarp from the station to the bookmark at 15km. You can use this for hauling ore from cans in asteroid belts very fast also, no waiting for a slow ass indy to approach from 15km away. Just make 2 bookmarks, one 12km past the station and the other 12km past the cargo can inline with the stationbookmark_____Station_________Can____Bookmark (12km past gate)_____x______-0-_____________0____xBest way to learn is to have someone show you, if you want I can log in a trial account and meet you in a system to show ya sometime.
3/10/2006 3:37:38 PM
can you have a powerful ship and do stealth and like sneak up on someone and completely blow them away?or can you use a stealth ship as a trader/miner and run cargo undetected?i like the stealth concept, just trying to figure out what all can be done with it.
