3/8/2006 1:48:06 PM

3/8/2006 2:12:46 PM
Some time ago I saw a bumpersticker:"The enemy is clear. Clearchannel."
3/8/2006 2:16:16 PM
everyone knows them channels have commercials on um. just more of a reason to buy sirius, not that itll affect the market at all.

make sure you have all the facts....ClearChannel was an early investor in XM. One of the conditions of the early contract was that they would be allowed to program 4 of the music Channels. (KISS, Sunny, Mix and Nashville I think). In the beginning all of the XM music channels had a few commercials, however when they went to commercial free music channels a year or so ago, CC sued saying that they had the right to program those 4 channels, including commercials. XM was against this, obviously, so it ended up in arbitration and clearchannel won. The outcome of this is that the 4 CC controlled channels will start airing commercials soon, however XM will be adding 4 new commercial free music channels so that the total number of commercial free streams is unaffected. And as someone mentioned, why would you listen to any of those stations?? All 4 of them are probably the 4 worst stations on XM. Really this is no big deal at all as none of the other music channels will be getting commercials.(as for the Stern thing.... must be nice to get $700 million dollars to work 4 days a week for 9 months a year doing sub-par radio! I am totally jealous!! O&A blow him out of the water these days.)

as long as Squizz and the System remain commercial free, I'm ok. I agree that those ^channels are the shitty channels.[Edited on March 8, 2006 at 5:29 PM. Reason : .]

they always have commercials for other channels.
3/8/2006 7:05:35 PM
As an XM subscriber...It doesn't really bother me...as the 4 channels it affects aren't onces I listen too anyway.
3/8/2006 7:07:00 PM
I've never noticed commercials on those channels. My favorite channels are Top Tracks and High Voltage. Those two are tough to beat for me.
3/8/2006 7:14:38 PM
Yea I rarely listen to those channels. Besides I much rather enjoy my XM while I'm running and riding my bike, whereas its impossible on Sirius, unless you want to listen to prerecorded crap. Might as well just have an iPod and not spend for the stupid Sirius account.I will say this, of the 4 channels, Nashville! is the only one I really ever catch. It will sometimes go into some pretty old country music songs, which is nice. Its not like Top 40 country stuff all the time. But it probably only gets about 2% of my listening time. The rest of the time I pretty much listen to Squizz, then Lucy/Ethel, and then of course High Voltage for O&A and Ron & Fez. I'm sure you dicks with Sirius enjoy listening to the rap up of Howards show, and the rap up on the rap up of the show, and all then you get BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE for the other show. Oh wow! And did you by chance listen to the Pharell show that was on for all of a week?? Yea, the Pests killed his chances of ever getting a gig on Sirius. Haven't seen Howards "fans" do anything close to that caliber before.
3/8/2006 9:04:57 PM
I don't listen to any of those channels...Fuck em
3/8/2006 9:19:39 PM
only channels that currently have commercials are the non-music stations.if you like the Top Tracks, you should check out ch. 49 the Big Tracks or whatever they call it. Actually a really good channel. "classic rock for our generation". good stuff.
3/8/2006 11:57:06 PM
Big Tracks (XM 49) became my favorite channel after listening for about 15 minutes
3/12/2006 7:45:47 AM
Wow, those are the worst channels on the dial. I'm a fan of the new channel 84, XM Chill, but tend to stick with Top Track, BPM, and Lucy.As for reception XM seriously owns Sirius, you go ahead and listen to your bazillion hours of pre-recorded radio on your "portable reciever", I'm going to keep switching stations every hour on my MyFi.
