mine was from a guy who said he was from florida, but was scammed and had his check stuck in NH so i just had to pay that fee. not overly funny but id seen it before.


on a diff classifieds site some guy kept asking me for the total on my product. if you dont answer with a number in your email, their reply keeps asking for it.

ex) HEY I AM VERY INTERESTED IN YOUR GUN, PLEASE GIVE ME A TOTAL SO WE CAN WORK A DEAL OUT.

ex-reply) my totals for various packages are listed in the ad. i might be willing to come down a few bucks if you get everything.

ex) GREAT! I'M VERY INTERESTED, JUST LET ME KNOW HOW MUCH TOTAL THE GUN IS SO WE CAN WORK OUT A DEAL. I AM FROM ENGLAND....

yeah I would like to know how their email "systems" work.

they all have the same pattern:

1) spelling/grammer is friggin horrible
2) they want to know the condition of the item
3) they want to know the final cost of the item

they probably have terrible writing skills for one of a few reasons:

1) they are foreign and made an honest mistake
2) they figure the ppl that fall for it wont notice
3) it makes them look more human

they ask for the cost just to move to the next state and spam you with a new email about sending that much cash. condition is probably, again, to seem more human.

Actually i think they have a shitty program that converts their slang to english. I would bet if they spoke in very correct terms in their native language, it would be better. There are several uses and definitions for every word, and I bet the translation program has a hell of time figuring out what to put in the email

makes more sense. I've received so many of them through eBay and Craigslist and they all seem like they were written by the same person. they make the same grammer mistakes, ask the same questions etc. There must be a program or something that generates these things.
