I had an interview last monday which I thought went extremely well. The last thing the guy said is that he had put in budget requests to begin staffing sometime April 1st. Do you think it's appropriate to e-mail him and follow up, telling him I really enjoyed the interview and am excited about the possibility of working for them? Or should I just leave it and wait for them to contact me?

if he had just put in the requests i'd wait till this upcoming monday
3/7/2006 12:30:49 PM
so 2 weeks after the original interview?
3/7/2006 12:46:00 PM
you should ALWAYS send a thank you note.
3/7/2006 12:47:27 PM
can that be done via e-mail
3/7/2006 12:48:59 PM
yes
3/7/2006 12:50:52 PM
tho it is better imo if you actually write one out and send it by mail. typical note:So and So, Thank you for inviting me to [company name] last [day] for an interview. I am impressed with your facilities and your group. I found the work to be interesting and I feel that I would be a good fit for your organization. I hope to here from you soon. Thank you again. Regards,So and Sodoesn't have to be long. just soemthing saying thanks and that you are looking forward to hearing from them.

this whole job seeking process seems so superficial to meit's all such bullshitI mean you either want to give me a job or don't, let's not diddle daddle around with what size font I had on my resume and what color my tie wasand now, I have to send thank you notes for their time? what about my time? what is this, fucking kindergarten?fucking ridiculous
3/7/2006 1:06:33 PM
welcome to the real world
3/7/2006 1:07:43 PM
Always remember that they have what you need.
3/7/2006 1:08:05 PM
I just don't think it's fair to judge someone's capabilities based on the layout of their resume or how they answer loaded interview questions or whether or not they send a THANK YOU NOTE after the interview
3/7/2006 1:09:01 PM
I agree, but there is nothing that we can do about it.
3/7/2006 1:10:11 PM
next interview I'm going Costanza style
3/7/2006 1:10:29 PM
its more the attention to detail that are looking at, not the layout.they are also looking for someone who really wants the job...not someone who is just going to up and leave on a whim.
3/7/2006 1:10:38 PM
if you were hiring for a job, and you had 20 applicants, how would you filter them out? what if 4 did especially well on the interview? there's only so many criteria you can use, and if those 4 applicants are equal in every way, but one has better PR skills, might as well take him/her.

I'm not really as nonchalant about this as I have been talking in this threadI understand the process and why it's necessaryI just don't like it
3/7/2006 3:59:27 PM
i would send a thank you card if i could get a fucking interview ANYWHERE
3/7/2006 6:25:24 PM

3/7/2006 6:31:27 PM
I was talking to the boss the other day. He was bitching about looking at 82094832094 resumes. He said that if he pulled up a resume and it was filled with nice pictures, he would hire that person.
3/7/2006 7:32:35 PM
at the bottom of my resume I'm going to write "Look, I just want a fucking job, k?"
3/8/2006 12:08:10 PM

3/8/2006 1:48:48 PM

has anyone came out of an interview feeling like shit and still got an offer? i had a phone interview that went alright, but not as well as i thought it would. i should know whether i will have an in person interview in a week or two. hopefully so, but i'm not too sure at this point.
3/17/2006 4:28:47 PM
If the phone interview goes well, your follow up should pretty soon. The only time you'd get word much longer then a couple of days is if the other applicants they're looking at flaked out.
