f4's and f4i's have a laid back position too, but the fz6 is more like a sports touring bike the a sports/streets bike. I'd say if you found a good deal on an f4i, you should get that instead of the detuned r6. What year, milage, condition, and price?

both brand new....the f4 is an 05 but the fz6 is a 06......fz6 is around 6500 plus ttf......f4i is 7k plus ttf....

I've got an 05 FZ6 and love it. There is a pic in my gallery.

those are two fairly different bikes. sounds like the FZ-6 is more in line with your needs, but the F4i isn't as hardcore as some race-replica sportbikes...it would work fine as a commuter. i'd probably lean towards the FZ-6, unless you got a deal you couldn't turn down on the Honda.

f4i's are a 6yr old design, but you can find good condition f4i's for 5 grand or less.2003 Hona cbr 600 f4i - $4900http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/139041482.html

i would go for the honda just 'cause i don't trust the trannys on yamahas.

i would get the f4i. i like fairing'd crotch rockets now a days... the fz6 doesnt look as good. but if it's ur first bike get the fz6.. bc when u drop it...u wont have many fairings to mess up
