My parents are going to divorce and my mom wants me to hire a private investigator to gather evidence against my dads infidelity. Anybody have any experience with this?

tell her to do it herself - you don't want to get involvedseriously
3/5/2006 2:59:59 PM
^I secondstay out of it!
3/5/2006 3:12:38 PM
for real man, this is their fight, they have to deal with it.
3/5/2006 3:16:07 PM
Warn your dad.

did you cry?

When my 'rents got divorced, I thought "well, its about time"

Tell your 'rents to piss off when it comes to this kind of shit involving you. That's a shitty thing to ask your child to do. They're adults, let them sort out their problems on their own.I feel for though. Doesn't sound like a fun place to be right now.
3/5/2006 5:56:26 PM
I can't fucking believe someone would ask their child to do some shit like that......
3/5/2006 6:00:30 PM
no wonder he left her crazy ass
3/5/2006 8:29:32 PM
this thread should be funnier
3/5/2006 8:30:35 PM
Wow. Just wow.
3/5/2006 8:31:28 PM
I'd ask to sit down with both of them (together, if that's possible) and explain to both of them that you do not want to be forced to take sides and that if they put you in that situation, that you will choose neither side. You may want to have a counselor present or someone who could mediate if it's a bitter divorce.
3/5/2006 8:53:42 PM
^ well said.
3/5/2006 9:16:45 PM
did anybody bother the ask Genki if he already had a side?or what he felt about it to begin with?Maybe he wants to help his mom?Obviously I don't know anything... but it's just a thought
3/5/2006 10:14:27 PM
No good can come of taking sides in a divorce. Even if Genki's dad is 80% at fault, he's still Genki's dad. Whether it's family or friends, don't get dragged into their marital problems. You can be supportive without trashing the other spouse.

Let's rephrase the question: Does anybody know a good private investigator for divorce cases?(I'll leave my personal opinion out of this one ... ick!)[Edited on March 5, 2006 at 11:02 PM. Reason : .]

I bet you can get the name of a better PI from your divorce attorney than from tww.

stay the hell out of itive been there done that there is only so much of you to go around

3/6/2006 1:35:05 AM
Next shes gonna ask you to find her a hit man.
3/6/2006 11:11:51 AM
is your mom looking yet [Edited on March 6, 2006 at 11:17 AM. Reason : pretty funny]

OK well heres the problem. First of all my mom barely speaks any english. And second, she feels screwed over because my dads been handling all the finances for as long as I can remember and nothing really is in her name (bank accounts, auto, possibly no credit) except 1 out of the 2 stores they own. And she stuck by his side forever just when things were getting better financially, he pulls this shit. Well I didn't want to pick sides but my moms basically helpless and my dads a prick anyways. But back to the main topic. Would hiring a pi and gathering evidence prove beneficial in a divorce?
3/6/2006 12:16:31 PM
WHO DO YOU LOVE MORE?
3/6/2006 12:21:52 PM
"Warn your dad"FUCK THAT SHIT...If he's a cheater he deserves whatever he has coming to him.But everyone here is right...let her fight it out with himExact same thing happened with my parents, my mom proved it and won---but never put me in the middle^^definitely---she needs to hire a LAWYER first, then a PI[Edited on March 6, 2006 at 2:46 PM. Hire a lawyer, who will probably tell her to hire a private investigator. Private investigators are pretty common now in divorces...it's fuckin sad, but you gotta do what you gotta do.And if your dad's a prick, then he deserves what's comin.
3/6/2006 2:51:41 PM
So in hiring a pi, would my mom be entitled to more of my parents assets?Recommend any divorce lawyers?[Edited on March 6, 2006 at 3:01 PM. Reason : .]
3/6/2006 3:00:08 PM
If they are in NC she will get half of everything anyway. The only point of hiring a PI would be to try and arrange to get alimony or something.
3/6/2006 3:02:41 PM
stay out of it
3/6/2006 4:08:14 PM
3/6/2006 4:34:35 PM
well if his mom cant speak english, he should help her out (since he's more sympathetic to his mom's side anyways)
3/6/2006 4:36:38 PM
I can understand the kid wanting his mom to have a roof over her head. If he is getting in the middle of who gets the most shit then thats not really his place though.
3/6/2006 4:41:43 PM
Bad situation any way he turns. Still weak of his mom to ask him to do that.
3/6/2006 4:49:48 PM
3/6/2006 4:52:22 PM
3/6/2006 4:54:10 PM
3/6/2006 5:08:02 PM
So she would be entitled to half of everything even though her name isn't specifically attached to some of the assets?
3/6/2006 7:04:41 PM
3/6/2006 7:30:47 PM
^^^technically, we don't have proof of genki's father's infidelitythats why momma genk wants to get the investigator
3/6/2006 7:33:05 PM
^exactly it is all hersay at this point but people have already taken sides
3/6/2006 8:34:48 PM
I'll give you $10 if you show up on Cheaters with your mom.
