my $75 "leather" office chair has lasted me like 6 years.

Usually find them on sale around holidays. Might get lucky with Father's Day coming up.I got mine from Sam's club for $75. Not leather and doesn't have all of the adjusting knobs, but it is comfortable. Had it for at least 3 years now.[Edited on March 4, 2006 at 10:03 AM. Reason : .]

My $80 Sam's Club chair has lasted maybe four years so far.We just got this $90 chair from Office Depot or Max, and I don't know about how long it will last, but it's so goddamn comfortable.

I have a mesh back chair that I bought a few years ago for around 200 I think.I like it better than the fancy ones at work, but they are pretty close.

Go to the Healthy Back Store. They have Herman Miller Aerons and all the other high end ergo chairs you could want. Decent chairs start at about $500 but expect to pay at least $700-$800. They run 15-20% off sales every now and then. Of course you can also find these chairs online but its a good place to be fit for the right chair (for example, Aeron chairs come in 3 sizes and many have different back rest styles to choose from). Its great being able to find a chair that actually fits you when you are remotely taller than average.http://www.healthyback.com/ (they have a store in Pleasant Valley and Southpoint... I thought there was one in Crossroads but it is not on their website)[Edited on March 6, 2006 at 9:33 AM. Reason : .]

im sitting in one of these as i type this:http://www.hermanmiller.com/CDA/SSA/Product/0,1592,a10-c440-p8,00.htmli'd rather have one of the $40 staples "leather" chairs. They're more confortable.its definately a better built chair, but if its really 500+ its a waste of money
3/6/2006 10:07:34 AM
really, who isn't sitting in a 'aeron' these days at work? i sit in one too, it's a great workstation chair...more often than not these are 'corporate' furniture solutions, not priced for home use. if you want a good chair, go to any home office retail store and just start sitting in different ones, there are a LOT of more comfortable chairs for a lot less.

pick one up every few months from NCSU Surplus for $1 each

seriously though as, everyone has said, the 75-125 dollar chairs at staples or office max last forever and are comfy in my opinion. this is one of those items you really dont need to splurge on.
