socket 939 3000+ winchester cpu. This cpu ran at 2.5 ghz with a small increase in voltage and proper cooling. overclocked it out performs the $300 3800+ cpu. if you aren't afraid of overclocking (or even if you are)this is a great chip to have. I screenshots of the cpu running @2.5ghz(circled) w/ a voltage of 1.456(circled) with prime 95 running also to show that it is stable. included w. that cpu is a stock amd heatsink fan. (this chip runs flawlessly in my system but every system is different and your milage may vary)asking $135obo

just wondering, how long have you had this processor and why are you selling it?
3/8/2006 10:39:18 AM
i'm had it for a few months and i'm selling it because i upgraded to an opteron 144 that does 2.9ghz and has the 1 meg cache.

Still for sale?

3/10/2006 7:27:41 AM
that's good to know , i can get at least $130 for this chip on 1 of the various overclockers forums. it's just i'd rather not deal with shipping it, but if nobody here is willing to pay wanywhere close to what i want then i'll do that. that said anybody wanna bit over 100$?

this might be a stupid question, but what is the differnce between the Winchester and Venice
3/13/2006 11:29:58 AM
the venice is a newer revision, its uses a bit less power which means (in general!) it takes less power going to them to get simular overclocking results as a winchester. the venice also have sse3 instrctions enabeld and a better memory contorller . but none of that is really a uge factor, all the benchmarks i've seen put the 2 cpus within 2% of each other performance wise.btw i'd be willing to trade this for a 74gb raptor[Edited on March 13, 2006 at 6:14 PM.
