Okay, so here's the story.

Won an auction, paid.
Seller ships from Charlotte to Raleigh
2 weeks later, it's still not here, so
I talk to her, the post office doesnt know where it is (had a tracking #)
go to the local post office, they say it never arrived there.
She refunds me my money (she said she would) and says if it ever comes, I can keep it free, or if it makes it back to her, she'll let me have it for shipping only.
This was tuesday.
It was in my mail this afternoon.

Question being, should I email her about it or no as she already said icould keep it (and have a record of this email)

here's the thing. if that lady waited 2 weeks to ship something (which is what it appears like to me), and she told ladywolff that she can have it for free because she knew she was in the wrong, then there's no reason for ladywolff pay anything. if thats the case, i'm sure she offered the product for free since she wants to avoid the negative feedback of waiting 2 weks to ship.

if on the other hand, the item was shipped promptly after the auction closed and fault rests with the USPS (which i doubt, i mean its only 2.5 hour drive from charolette to here) then you should pay the lady something.

ladywolff, do you have any tracking info for the shipment. If she didn't email the tracking # to you it will be on the outside of the box it arrived on. If you can get a tracking number, look it up and look at the shipment date. If she waited more than 10 days or so to ship then keep it for free because the lady knows she screwed up. Let us know how it turns out.

^^^ I do, however maybe you can clarify this then.

She *did* send them "electronic" shipping information, however that I know does NOT mean she went by and gave them the physical package.

As of the day I checked with the post office, they gave me a print out that sasid the status was still on "info recieved".

I'm not sure if they change the status to reflect the actual package was in their hands, but if so, it wasn't put into the system as of tues.

tell her you got it, offer to send her the money for it, if she is a business on ebay, and insists that you can keep it for free, then you should, it doesn't make you are bad person, SHE IS TELLING YOU TO KEEP IT FREE for the sake of her business having a good name, so do it, how does that make you wrong, but it would be a nice gesture to offer to pay her if it's just a person, and not a business

You asked if you should pay for an object that you bought. Everyone is saying yes you should. You don't like that answer, you wanted to hear "No no, keep it. It's all good." So therefore you're pissed and acting like a...

Wait for it...

thats the answer. i vote the lady was being lazy and offered the free bit since it was her fault. if it was a higher priced item, she probably would have offered a shipping credit/partial refund.

she got $ from the post office.

none of this karma bullshit.

the usps is a terrible way to ship packages or things that matter. info recieved means that it 1. could be in their system, or 2. it's on it's way to you, but they are too lazy to update their systems.

but it would be kinda nice to offer her at least something for it if the post office didn't reimburse her.

assuming she dropped off the package in a timely manner, and also insured the package. i don't think either happened.

and yeah, thats the root of the problem. if usps could update their tracking procedures to show when a package was received (or at least be able to answer that question when a customer calls in) then none of this would be neccessary. usps is good for the cheap price and fast delivery for lower weight shipments, but their tracking sucks.
