Stephen Davis, Rod "He hate me" Smart, and Brentson Buckner. Thought it needed its own thread.

Key players?

Stephen Davis --- sucked so terribly we put him on the IR even though he wasnt hurt.

Rod Smart --- good special teamer, but hasnt been that great since he busted his knee 2 years ago

Brentson Buckner --- good locker room guy, old and cant play full-time, we're drafting a DT to replace him

These were all appropriate cuts.

Any chance the Panthers take a chance on McCargo at DT?

^^ We're probably taking a DT in the first round, so its doubtful.

In later rounds anything is possible though

we already have Rucker and we couldnt fit Mario Williams under our cap.

Also, we dont really have anything we could trade to get Mario that would make any sense...

Holding Defense #99

and your cut

He got D holding 1 too many times in the playoffs for my liking. That shows he has lost a step or lost technique so he has to reach. I know he is trying to occupy 2 OLs so the LBs can make the plays but he used to be able to do it.

I'd hate to see Kasay go, but I have always had a feeling that the rapture will come as he is about to kick a game-winning FG.

Rod Smart had become a head case and ineffective

Buckner was old and there were thoughts he might retire plus his cap figure was over 6 million

Stephen Davis wasn't a surprise he is to injury prone and not fast enough anymore. The Panthers were 11 million over the cap they are reworking Minter's deal and will probably rework Peppers 14 million dollar deal.

Kasay is the only remaining original Panther. They won't cut him.

they will if they need to clear up cap room, kickers are always expendable, Kasay is clutch and I would hate to see him go but he is not good at kicking off and he is getting older so no telling how much longer the leg strength will last.

Kasay is decent, but he has a habit of not coming through in cluch situations, and making stupid mistakes....i'm still pissed about him kicking the kickoff out of bounds in the superbowl.

We could find another kicker, easy

Deshaun isnt going anywhere and Edge and Soft Shaun and Jamal arent coming anywhere near the Panthers

they need to renegotiate Jake's contract to help get some kind of free agent though...either a running back or a receiver (WR or TE)

hopefully we can find a way to resign Will Witherspoon, he is solid

and theres no way in hell we cut Kasay...everybody thinks he's a choker but the last bad thing he did in a game was over 2 years ago...nobody likes to remember the ~6-8 games he won with field goals that same season

don't put much faith in the mock drafts, one unexpected trade or pick can totally change the whole draft.

mangum is actually a good fit for our offense, good blocker, and can catch the rare ball that comes his way. Gaines is pretty good too.

however, with smitty, a great, fast receiving TE could really open things up.

I am ready to see Thomas Davis at LB, he fuckin lights people up on special teams. One of the hardest hitters in the league i think.

i think they realized that like the second game of the season.

you know, when marlon mcree began starting at saftey

who, by the way, we need to resign

from what i've heard the past couple of months, the coaching staff is still thinking about trying to work him into a saftey position, but hopefully with their worsening LB situation, they've dropped that.
