so in other words he will be trying out for the NFL
3/1/2006 1:51:32 PM
no, my words
3/1/2006 1:52:02 PM
i was being sarcastic saying that he won't be drafted in the NBA so he will be trying out for the NFL
3/1/2006 1:52:54 PM
i was just being a dick b/c i didnt catch your sarcasm
3/1/2006 1:54:10 PM
lolseriously though, would he have any chance of just walking out there and making an NFL roster?he must have seriously planned no future for himself other than sports
3/1/2006 1:55:41 PM
as a tight end, with the recent success of antonio gates, yes
3/1/2006 1:57:07 PM
they said on the radio that it has happened a few times in the past where basketball kids have tried out and made the team as an unrestricted free agenti guess it all depends on his understanding of the game....i dont remember what position he said he would try out for but hes a big guy
3/1/2006 1:57:57 PM
i think you mean undrafted free agent
3/1/2006 1:58:31 PM
i know he played WR in high school b/c he was actually recruited fairly heavily thereat least from a lot of schools in state
3/1/2006 2:01:56 PM
yeah, he'd def be a receiving tight end. he could actually be pretty good too i bet, especially if he played WR in high school, he already know a few basics about route-running. im sure someone will take a chance on him just because of the success gates has had.

noel's first and second loves are basketball. if he can't make an nba team, i would see him playing in europe over the nfl. i really get the feeling from listening to him that football is a last resort

He originally inked with the Heels on a Football scholly. Was very highly recruited. Always dreamed of playing bball, Doh recognized his talent and invited him to walk on while promising him a scholarship his soph. year. Doh wasn't around for his soph. year but Roy upheld Doh's original agreement.

my pa was a basketball player in college and was asked to try out for the Dallas Cowboys.
3/1/2006 2:51:19 PM
i could see him playing in either the NBA or NFL.
3/1/2006 3:07:08 PM
dont forget in high school he ran a 4.45 at 6'6''
3/1/2006 3:13:47 PM
was an old rumor about him asking for another year of eligibility to play football...guess that's not gonna happen if the NFL is now mentionedif shavlik randolph was picked up by the sixers, i can definitely see somebody picking up noel
3/1/2006 4:16:22 PM
he'll make a NFL roster before Hoyte and Morris, definitely Morris.if you're a bigtime athlete, you can basically do what you want. i know a guy who signed with ncsu several years ago for baseball, he ended up being the Devil Rays 1st ever Draft Choice (Paul Wilder, from Cary)... spent some time in rookie ball-Single A before finally calling it quits because of being injured (when you're 6'5" 265lbs, 3% body fat, you tear a muscle everytime you sneeze just about). As soon as he gave up on the baseball thing, he was offered football scholarships by Nebraska, Vanderbilt, and a few others I can't remember. I could definitely see Noel in the NFL if not the NBA. Don't forget he is a UNC guy, they can do anything.[Edited on March 1, 2006 at 4:22 PM. Reason : p]

^ i dunno, Morris seems like a lock to make a roster... He's got good size and talent... his attitude is his biggest question mark obviously and that slides him down the draft board, but he shouldnt have much trouble making a team.He certainly leaves a big gap on our OL next year...

Could be true. When his height/weight come through on a piece of paper, you gotta take a chance on him. I just think someone would go for a guy like David Noel pretty quick (his name, college, athletic ability, etc).I don't care about David Noel at all, I always thought he should have stuck to football to start with. But he's had a pretty damn good senior year in basketball.
3/1/2006 4:25:23 PM
yeah i mean the steelers drafter trai essex last year (mistake) and he had a history of off the field problems. they took him in round 3, but the difference between he and morris is this guy had a history of playing well in college too.but yeah, maybe someone will give him a shot in the late rounds

The NFL draft is before the NBA draft. So I guess its if he doesn't get picked up by a NFL team, he tries for NBA???
3/1/2006 4:51:13 PM
The way i understand it is he will try to make the NBA. If he isn't drafted he will look to sign with an NFL team.It makes sense to me... I'd rather play in the NFL than bounce around in Europe or d-leagues as a basketball player...I'm willing to bet he makes it as a professional in one of the sports...
3/1/2006 4:54:05 PM
^yeah i'd bet that too
3/1/2006 6:13:25 PM
I hope David Noel goes to prison
3/1/2006 6:18:38 PM
why would noel go to prison?
3/1/2006 7:09:00 PM
hes already in prison
