I'm the Student Art Exhibition Coordinator for Artsplosure and I'm trying to find a safe place to store artwork for the middle and high schools of Wake County while they are entered into a database and juried. Likely from mid-April to mid-March. Anyone have any creative ideas for storage? We might could rent a space but renting for one month is difficult to do.Please pm if you have any ideas. If you have an art studio or something similar, I think my company could work out a deal with you.

^^ What they said, it's probably the easiest route to go.

We're afraid the students would be wary of leaving their prized art work in a storage building. We were hoping for an unused studio or office... Thanks for the suggestions tho!

The storage place will be just as safe as any other. In fact, I can think of a single reason that they'd even need to know. Just tell them that their work is being stored in your secured off-site storage facility.

Then that defeats the whole purpose of not having to haul 300+ pieces of art from a drop-off location to the storage room. We would rather just have them drop it off at the place of storage and a storage building isn't going to work for this one. Any other ideas are appreciated.

a storage building is fine, you jsut are overly nervouse aout them possibly thinking you mihgt be saving money instead of blowing money on a large useless office space to use for storage.

^I'm not overly nervous about anything. I really don't mind it but my supervisiors don't want the art to go in a storage building.Anyhow, Exploris is going to try to give us one of their empty offices so end thread.

Why not just put it in the main lobby of Exploris in piles? It's not like anyone goes in there anyway.WORST CHILDREN'S MUSEUM EVER.

When did you last go there? And if you want, name a better place to hold a children's art exhibit. I'm open to suggestion. Artsplosure is held right outside of Exploris so it seems like a pretty good place to me.

some of this stuff is really good. these are future design students. Young artists, but still artists. You might be surprised at what you see.

If this is going to be a recurring thing, might want to look into something seasonal that you can renew as needed.

Check with "Waters Edge" Office complex. They have alot of empty offices and are very reasonable. Good luck! Dave[Edited on March 6, 2006 at 7:17 AM. Reason : They may be able to donate space for a tax deduction.....Id check on it.]
