Need to take a buddy out for a big group birthday thing. He likes American style stuff, aka Porters, Zely & Ritz, etc.We are trying to find a place a bit off the radar that he hasn't been to before. Any recommendations in the Raleigh/Cary and surrounding areas?

Take him to a fast food joint. They have those in other countries, but they typically don't come with authentic fat people in them.

Not really off the radar, but Tripp's is pretty good. I doubt you'll find anything better than Porters, though. There are a bunch of "chophouses" around here, but I haven't been to any of them.

I've had very good experiences with the Lucky 32 in Greensboro. Can't speak for any of the ones around here, but the menu should be similar at least.
